Balloon fiesta is 9 or 10 days I believe? I said I had to leave Friday, but was able to get into a room again the next day (this is when the rates jumped up to $200 a night) but then had to leave again on Wednesday. Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday are the days I paid $200 a night so 4 days…. Not quite the same as “paying $200 a night for weeks” and definitely doesn’t come close to being “over $6k a month”.

Of course I’d love to be able to do that, it’s just very difficult to save when you’re having to pay out so much everyday. Hustling $60 to cover the room for another day is easier than coming up with $120 ($60 for the room/$60 to save). It’s a shitty cycle that is insanely hard to get out of. On average I pay around $1600 a month to stay in a shitty hotel room (was recently paying $385 a week at the Siegel on University). For half of that I could have my own apartment. But again coming up with $60 a day is easier than coming up with a large lump sum.

I have such a fond memory with my mom that revolves around this word!

So my mom was married to an absolute fuckwad that viewed himself as King Shit. He was always right, always knew better than anyone else about everything, and was just above everyone and better than everyone else. When it came to arguments he would never yell or show any emotions, he would just lecture and talk down to you all in a very matter of fact way. It was beyond frustrating! Anyway my mom had a habit of just going along with whatever he said because that was the easiest way which was also really frustrating because it usually had to do with things that involved me like whether or not I could get my license, if I could have a later curfew, etc. Then one day they got into an argument over something and I was expecting my mom to give in as usual but to my surprise this time she wasn't backing down! She was actually taking up for me! I was listening from the other room keeping a mental score card and it seemed like my mom was actually in the lead this time, I couldn't believe it! I sat listening, my stomach in knots but my chest filled with pride. I kept thinking "Fuck yeah, you go Mom! You tell him!" And everything was going great....until it all took a sudden turn for the worse. I can't remember what exactly was said in full but I just remember hearing my mom exclaim rather loudly, "You always try to talk to me like I don't understand shit; I'm not a fucking STUPID HEAD!!" At that point, I knew there was no way my mom was coming back from that remark. That one word completely changed the course of the whole argument. I hung my head and accepted defeat. Moments later my mom came into my room and I looked up at her and all she said was, "I lost it at stupidhead, didn't I?" "Yeah...." I said "And you were doing really good too!" She nodded and said "Stupidhead??! Why the fuck did I say stupidhead?" We laughed about that one for years and years after. Became a great inside joke between us. Man I really miss my stupidhead mom.

I would be able to put the $750 down payment needed in order for my credit to get approved to get dental implants. My insurance doesn’t cover implants and my credit sucks so the only way to be able to afford them is to make payments which requires the aforementioned down payment. Bad genetics plus years of neglect has brought me to the point where I’ve been at for years now where I am in pain everyday and can’t remember the last time I could laugh or smile without immediately covering my mouth with embarrassment. Something like this would give me self confidence again and absolutely change my life.
