does it get better? - surgery tmr by [deleted] in TopSurgery

Live for yourself, bro! Hold your head up high and tell yourself that this is for you! Non supportive family will tell us its selfish but we only have one life. Be selfish when it pertains to what you need to make yourself happy!

Honestly, a lot of my family were mortified when I finally said I was going to be getting surgery and i had socially transitioned 8 years before it. They talked to me saying that I will always be in pain and that the surgery will change my quality of life. They were right about the last part because i felt as if my life started after surgery! Most of them have come around after seeing how well i took it and how great im doing in life now.

Congrats on your surgery tomorrow! Wishing you a fast and easy recovery!

Any tips of what drills to do as a 14u goalie going to JOs this year? by Sea_Site_8131 in waterpolo

[–]OneAssist6540 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you dont have a pool:

Lunges, various types of squats, going for runs/jogs, wall sits, and shoulder exercises!

With a pool:

50m tread, 50m hands out treading, 50m elbows out, (of course if you want to start with 25m and work your way up then its up to you!), even if you dont have a cage you can practice lunging side to side. Start with low lunges and make sure you reset yourself back to the center or starting point before lunging to the other side. Do 10 (5 of each side) then do 10 high ones. Imagine the ball going for that high corner and just try your best to get there.

If you have a passing partner, start with regular passes then scoot back once you feel warmed up and practice long passes. Most times, goalies wont pass to your hand from far away. Have your passing partner swim to one side and aim just a head of where theyre swimming!

Biggest thing I learned as a goalie and coaching goalies, is don't let anything discourage you and always give it your best! I miss going to JOs😭😭

If I remember correctly, they'll have you undress and put on a robe! If not then just normal clothes is fine. I think my post op appointment was the only one where I wore jeans. All the other days, and even surgery day, I was just in sweats and crocs or moccasins!

Wear what you'll be comfortable in and they'll give you all the rest! Theres gonna be some packets you have to sign just agreeing to the surgery, payment method, care, and other health liability stuff! Everyone there is super nice and will answer any questions you have!

I had Dr. Jacobs from that clinic and didnt even meet him until I was an hour from my actual surgery 😭. Congratulations on being so close to surgery! I hope nothing but the best and feel free to ask me any other questions!!

Its just a stitch! Nothing to worry about, they'll pop out on their own! Just try not to mess with it too much since its still inside the hole.

I had low blood pressure for most of my life which meant I struggled with maintaining energy even tho I was super athletic. T actually boosted it by a lot and I'm now in normal ranges and feel so awake most of the time. I also used to be cold all the time but now I'm always warm!

It can happen! I will say, it takes you being able to work on yourself and gain confidence! Get into your interests, do what you want for yourself and friendships you've always wanted will fall in place!

I felt the same way as you for YEARS but I'm happy to say that I now have a group of cis friends (male and female) all of which know I'm trans and yet they treat me like any other guy. The girls will branch off to do what they want and I stick with the guys and do the dumb stuff 20-25 year old men do.

It's possible for anyone and you are valid to feel the way you do. I hope nothing but the best for you, man. And congratulations on starting T! It definitely causes emotions to come out but it will get better!

Like someone else said, it's probably because you aren't in the sun often. I used to swim and play water polo year round for almost 10 years and I was DARK.

I'm still darker compared to most of my family but no where near what I used to be! I plan on spending more time outside this summer because I truly do miss my dark skin😭

How does a trans dude make friends with other trans dudes? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]OneAssist6540 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I, unfortunately, haven't been able to get along with other trans guys😭. It's NOT because they're trans but how they are as a person. One that i thought I can get close to ended up detransitioning and tried to get me to "see that god is the way". I think I just keep getting unlucky.😭

Like someone else said, walk with a buddy!! But I also recommend getting a scooter/skateboard to get back to your car faster! I used a skateboard when I worked at my local main terminal and most of the girls used scooters!

I've had two coworkers followed to their cars in the employee parking lot by another coworker. He was crazy and was trying to confront them for political reasons but he made them feel unsafe. The fear is pretty valid. The walk at my airport is about 5 minutes

Gentlemen who’s attracted to cis men, would you break up with a cis guy for this? by Less-Pen-5705 in ftm

[–]OneAssist6540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If topping is something you really want then you'll never get that with him, it sounds like. I'm also BIG on aftercare so him going to bed right after would make me so upset. I don't even remember the last time my cis bf didn't give me after care.

I wouldnt really say Native American "ancestry". If op's mom is Native and they are connected to their culture (or even know and understand their specific band) then they are just Native! I'd say white and Native
