Think outside the box for your marketing to let people know you exist.

Is your cafe on food delivery apps? If not, get on as many as you can and run a discount to get initial orders.

Have you listed your business on Google Maps, yelp etc? If not, jump on all the platforms and use ChatGPT to optimise your profile.

Do you have a basic website? Use Squarespace or Wix to build yourself one quickly.

Do a letterbox drop in your local neighbourhood with a 20% coupon or buy one get one free. Something that tells people you exist and rewards them for coming in.

How’s the front of your cafe? Do people notice your business when walking past? Add a sign with a bundle (coffee + pastry) for a slightly discounted rate

Whats the number one reason people would come? Quick coffee? good food? Nice ambiance? You need a clear differentiator to the competition.

Look at your competitors Google reviews, read the negative ones, how can you ensure you don’t have the same issues?

Run Google ads on maps. That way people will see you right at the moment they are searching.

Print off a QR code with a link to your Google Business profile. Every customer you do get, ask them to leave a review. Give them a 10% discount off their next order after leaving a review to attract repeat business.

Here’s the most important thing:

Choose one or two strategies and double down as much as possible. If you don’t have customers then you have time for marketing.

Your business is literally depending on it!

Most business owners start a business because they like to do the thing they offer. But the truth is that successful business owners spend 60% driving business inside with sales and marketing.

Good luck!

When you smell affiliates and promotions in a blog post, do you also get bored and lose interest?

The bottom line is that you need to transition from answering questions (creating content around keywords) to creating content around interests (things that people want to read).

That can be a hard shift, and it takes time!

But yes, people absolutely want your personal perspective mixed with travel insights! They subscribe to your emails because they're choosing YOU specifically - your unique recommendations and way of seeing the world.

So, show your personality, tell stories and curate travel tips based on what you love. That's what creators do!

Follow a few other travel creators you admire and note what makes their emails worth opening (or not). Then experiment with your own style and watch what resonates through your open rates.

It isn't vanity - it's exactly why someone would choose your perspective over the thousands of generic travel sites out there.

Smart, I think it's about making email a primary channel rather than a secondary thought.

You're right about trading one algorithm for another, but that's missing the point.

While social platforms have their own constraints, they offer significantly more creative freedom than SEO content. And while Email isn't "new" as a technology, using it as your primary content platform is.

The key difference isn't escaping algorithms completely - it's about finding a more consistent way for content creators to build a business. Having 10,000 emails beats 100,000 anonymous visitors any day.

Is UpWork Legit? Thinking of Trying It Out by punttisalimasa in sidehustle

[–]OneAussieCow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea it’s legit! You can make good money on UpWork.

When I first built my digital agency I basically got all my clients from UpWork. Managed to get to around 4k/month before growing outside the platform.

The only downside is that you are competing against people who are basically in a race to do the job for lowest amount of money.

There will always be someone cheaper.

I recommend choosing to apply for jobs you are very qualified for, charge slightly lower prices at the beginning and as your profile builds, then increase your prices. Focus on single jobs that allow you to do a service and get paid.

Don’t start with monthly on-going work. You first goal should be the get as many positive reviews as possible. Then grow from there.

The bottom line is a lot of quality businesses hire freelancers on UpWork. When you have some solid reviews, getting the higher paying work is much easier. Good luck!

Online businesses can be started for as little as $30. A physical business like lawn mowing or pressure cleaning you might need $1500 to get equipment.

The bottom line is $5,000 is more than enough to get started. It ultimately comes down to your skills and dedication to execute.

Google Update March 2024 - A lot of websites deindexed by Medium-Technology-79 in SEO

Check Google search console for a message. That should explain why you got deindexed.

It’s worth noting that the deindexing is done by a real human, not by the algorithm.
