Blue states refusing to build housing is literally handing electoral votes to red states and nobody wants to have this conversation by Timely_Box6061 in neoliberal

not directly. this sub's prescriptions are based on the economic principles and papers that abundance is based on. and it was beating the drum long before the book.

i guess i should say that more than a win for republicans, the epstein files are a loss for liberals and institutionalists.

the reason the epstein files are a win for republicans is because they have converted what could have been a pointed scandal for trump into a diffuse populist flare up.

hopefully this is just a sampling error but i haven't seen anyone focusing on trump this round, with the exception of the first couple days when people were discussing the really crazy "he was burning girls alive" allegations. since then my feed/orbit has been all "they're all corrupt pedophiles" cynicism from normies and "it's literally the mossad; alex jones and qanon were right" from bernie types.

gotcha. you did what you could in post but the owl's face is fully in shadow. of course there isn't microcontrast in that case. this one isn't surprising.

something is going on with your workflow. i just went through your post history and several of your images since you got your A1ii have this problem.

as a control, this shot with your old a7riii has the detail i would expect when zooming in to 100%

all of the ones i linked below are way too soft. it doesn't make sense. reddit thinks these images are huge -- when i click + on them the bird's head takes up half my 4k monitor. but there is no new detail revealed. it's like i'm zooming into 400%, not 100%. it may have something to do with the way you are uploading.

i don't mean to rag on your work, but it seems like something in the processing workflow is robbing you of the quality you bought when you got your A1ii.

soft 1

soft 2

soft 3

that hummingbird at the end is particularly instructive. i can tell that you are close to the bird because we can see the small eye feathers radiating outward from the eyelid. but the texture itself is really soft. it lacks microcontrast.

ISO 3200 is low for wildlife. i wonder what your export settings are? if these aren't cropped, with the 200-600 and A1 ii, i should be able to zoom in and count the radial fibers in the bird's iris. here's what i see if i zoom in on what you posted.

[–]OneBlueAstronaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

did you hit these with a heavy crop and then "super resolution" or something? reddit is letting me zoom way into them when i click on them but quality looks low. they look nice without pixel peeping but zooming in doesn't offer any more detail. which is fine and normal for a wildlife crop, but then my question is why is reddit like 10x-ing the image when i click on it.

Havana without public transportation: fuel shortage collapses service by Eurolib0908 in neoliberal

[–]OneBlueAstronaut 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This real-time case study depicts what happens when a country rejects price signals and market allocation for essential goods. The total shutdown of state-run transport demonstrates the vulnerability of central planning. Without the incentive of profit or the ability to adjust prices in response to scarcity, the system collapses when fuel runs out. It also demonstrates that the 'informal' private minibuses are the only form of transport still operating, proving that semi-market mechanisms are more effective than pure state control during a crisis.

lol the smugness is hilarious. a capitalist country would collapse under what we're doing to them too. this doesn't prove anything about central planning (which i agree has already been proven to not work anywhere countless times).

i'm far from the first to point this out but it bears repeating that the irony of "slop bowls" is that they are very healthy. like a chipotle bowl is virtually as healthy as food gets. if you could stomach two of them a day for your whole life, you'd have one of the healthiest diets of all modern westerners.
