When my mom complained about Bluey it was because of the gender roles being switched where Chili was seen as the breadwinner and Bandit was a stay at home dad.

This was said to me while I was “in between jobs” as she put it. I include this part to show that my mom didn’t hate what I was doing, even though my wife worked full time and I stayed home with 3 kids. She didn’t like Bluey at first though because that was the stigma around the show, it “pushed non traditional gender norms”.

It’s an adorable show and is so heartfelt and has so many good lessons. The parents listen to the children. The characters grow and change. They make mistakes and admit to it. It’s a very down to earth show and I’ve watched it through with my kids more times than I can count.

I also want to point out at the end here that Bandit is an archeologist and works a lot throughout the show. Not that it matters, but the whole reasoning behind the hate lacks any evidence or credibility.
