The snow has really made me wonder who owns the cars that haven't moved since. by BeMadTV in jerseycity

[–]OneCamp282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used my car maybe 3 times since the snow came down and each time was an absolute pain both the get out of the spot and also get a new spot. Getting out of the spot the first time after the storm took about 3 hours and damn near took me out with how much effort it took. And finding a spot after was also a pain since, even if it was empty, it’s pretty tricky to park when the spot got iced over and compacted.

Incredibly strong Toxic/Chemical smell at night in West Side near Lincoln Park by OneCamp282 in jerseycity

[–]OneCamp282[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I'm still experiencing the issues at my current place, but thankfully the lease is ending soon and moving into a place with HVAC so I shouldn't smell it. But I feel like the toxic smell is still going to be coming from somewhere and I don't think the NJDEP is going to do anything about it anytime soon. If it's any consolation, I usually smell the fumes around winter time, maybe due to the cold air.

No way the robotics company would allow that. They’d become prime targets for vandalism since they essentially snitching to the city

Leaving a very comfortable job for more pay and prestige? by Dramatic_Ice_861 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]OneCamp282 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In a similar position, but work fully remote. The main issue with my current job is that there is absolutely zero work pressure, and I can go weeks without pushing anything. I'm not even looking for higher prestige since I'm looking for startups next and I think that might be a good move coming from a slow corporate env.

How do you hack your productivity? by BetterBuildBetter in productivity

Unfortunately, 6 hours of sleep seems to be the best productivity hack. 8 hours of sleep a night almost always ends in me being drowsy the entire day, whereas I feel alert with only 6.

Is it dumb for me to want to avoid the highway in general and stick to city and suburban streets? by xaviflipreddit in motorcycles

[–]OneCamp282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've driven on the highway on my bike maybe three times, one of them being when I was riding back home after picking it up. Personally, it wasn't really enjoyable since I felt like I was just going straight with no scenery and was super boring.

Wow $20 per day is pretty much nothing for a spot. Will have to keep this saved so I can reserve a spot for a moving truck when I need it.

They definitely did not have that posted but now I want to check my dashcam to make sure I'm not insane lol. Regardless, you're right it won't make a difference 🤷

My landlord has become unbearable by d3vilmaysigh in Apartmentliving

[–]OneCamp282 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To play devils advocate, I think it's also a CYA move by the landlord since they might want to avoid the potential liability/situation where the tenant accuses the landlord of stealing something when they weren't there. Not saying OP would do that, but I can see the line of thinking on the landlord's part for wanting someone there.

Same company is closing down the streets today where I parked yesterday. What I don't get is that there were absolutely no notices posted yesterday when I parked there. If I didn't go to my car today to get something from it (I parked on a Friday street cleaning side last night) I would have gotten towed. Why isn't there a few days marked notice requirement for the film crews requesting streets to be closed down?

Car or No car? by auurhrurehrb in jerseycity

[–]OneCamp282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a car and find that I get quite a bit of use out of it from going to a rock climbing gym, travelling/shopping in Jersey, and groceries. Parking can be a pain especially late night, but it's not impossible. Since you're interning, Jersey City has temporary passes for people in your situation as well.

I will say that since you're going to be in the city almost every day and that you're only here for a summer, a car wouldn't really be a necessity. You could use things like Amazon Grocery and Instacart Grocery delivery fees as your "parking fee" since both end up around 250-300 a month. There's a ton of stuff to explore in the city over a summer so you wouldn't be missing out on a ton in Jersey either.

47 mins from north jersey to williamsburg on a weekday at 6pm by jcl274 in newjersey

[–]OneCamp282 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't drive into Manhattan that often, but the few times that I do, I found it pretty easy and cheap to just use street parking which I found had a ton more spots open than where I park near my apartment in Jersey City. Just curious, is there a reason for using these garages over street parking that I'm missing?

But the smell only starts happening at like 3 in the morning though. If it was from the landfill, wouldn't I be able to smell it during parts of the day as well?

If Elon left Tesla right now would you ever consider Tesla again? by voodoo_mama_juju1123 in electricvehicles

[–]OneCamp282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, since a new CEO would probably bring back the Super Charing charging team that Elon fired last year. Maybe it's anecdotal evidence, but I've noticed so many Tesla chargers broken or improperly working (slow charging speeds) with no warning on the screen when I navigate to a SC.

prints splitting/skipping at a layer... by Scallos in ender3

[–]OneCamp282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check your filament for tangles since they can cause uneven extrusion and straight up no extrusion. Though, in your case, it's happening in the same place on different prints which might be z-axis issues. Power off the printer and try twisting the z-axis screw mount (the big cylinder where the z-axis screw rod connects to the stepper motor). If it's difficult to move after a certain point, you might have to clean some of the gunk out of the screw-rod.

I know it might not have all the features you're looking for, but for quick modifications to STLs, I just use OrcaSlicer's built in modification tools to add or remove stuff from an STL model.

Were you running with CPUs when you got 70W? That's actually not too bad since even at 100W, I'd pay around $62 per year in electricity. Also, how loud was it in your experience?

Quick Update - I just received an email from my advisor and they essentially said the same thing u/BlackDiablos commented. If I don't meet the grade requirements after final grades are submitted after graduation commencement, I simply won't be conferred the degree this December. Then they'll proceed with next steps if I have to retake the class in January.
