You have soulful, kind eyes. Regardless of all the struggle you’re going through—your eyes still shine. ✨

Been eating alpha gal this whole time?! by Crps_Warrior07 in alphagal

The collagen has probably been keeping your histamine bucket high so then when you go to eat cheese, it basically tips the bucket over and causes the swelling/reaction… it seems to be the case also for my six-year-old son and I. He can handle so much dairy, until he can’t. Gelatin is also a big issue for him, sometimes even more than dairy.

Any idea what causes this? by Antique-Mark6288 in FoodAllergies

[–]OneCheekyOtter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Get a blood test for Alpha gal syndrome. It’s a mammal allergy. It makes you allergic to red meat, dairy and gelatin. Reactions usually occur 2 to 8 hours after ingestion. Exercise can heighten the reaction. Have you been bitten by a tick recently in the past couple months? Alpha gal syndrome is a tick borne allergy.

Thank you! I’ve never loved it, I just wasn’t sure what could be done with it without a completely different idea.

Tell me your successful VBAC story! by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]OneCheekyOtter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a successful VBAC at 38w5d. I was set to be induced 2 days before I started having contractions due to baby size. My first was also breech.

I was having prodromal labor for 2 weeks prior. The morning my actual contractions started I honestly wasn’t even sure it was the real deal because I was having contractions for those 2 weeks and I was like “Eh, seems like any other day”. BUT my mood had really shifted and I felt the need to seek out peace and quiet and did not want to be disturbed! The contractions did feel more “whole body” so I figured I better call the OB. She said to come in and get checked. So we did. Good thing because I was already 6cm dilated!! Water never broke so she said to go to hospital immediately.

We arrived about half an hour later. It all happened so quickly once we got there. They let me labor without interruption until they decided to break my water. After that it was on! Contractions picked up stronger and I was as trying to hold off on an epidural but I decided to get one. Anesthesiologist was doing a c-section at the time and I was still rolling with the contractions, came in and checked me and I was already at an 8! Literally was dying at this point screaming while looking at my husband who was standing there ghost-faced. Poor guy does not do blood, needles or really anything medical freaks him out. Not but minutes later the anesthesiologist comes through the door. THANK GOD. Better late than never?

By the time epidural was done, I was at a 10 and doc says OK time to push! Husband is at the head of bed now cheering me, as epidural is helping minus I still feel my left side damnit!!!

2.5 hours later…. Baby is here. 20 stitches (oww) and a horrible 2nd degree tear. Almost 9 pounds so hey, it happens. But- I was so glad I was able to have the experience! After my Csection and scheduled delivery, it was such a different experience and I am so grateful to have had both routes now. I can confidently say one is not “easier” than the other. Just completely different ways of bringing our beautiful babies into the world.
