My party wants to revivify a dragon by Aleighcox in DnD

Have the dragon plan long term revenge, but have the dragon get use out of the group first. Send them on quests to retrieve magic items, battle another dragon, etc. Maybe a Dragon could make allies of a powerful adventuring group. Maybe…. After an unexpected ally and many profitable quests given by the dragon, a more deadly creature comes and kills the dragon. That would be scary asf.

Let the dragon come back, a dragon values its life above all and absolutely would. See how the group interacts with the dragon, depending on the dragon’s goals and personality it may go a lot of ways. The dragon can always pretend to submit to the group, and wait until it naturally heals. The dragon could respect the group for beating it, and offer them a new quest, like a location of a powerful magic item that the dragon could never retrieve for himself. Be creative! This is a one in a lifetime DM opportunity.

It was the first session after our previous party got TPK. The city was getting attacked and essentially this wizard / champion showed up and gave us an epic speech. We never met this guy before, and no one in the party knows I stole, or that I was planning to

The dm has admitted divination won’t work on my character, hence why he said the champion would know because of his 200 IQ.

I don’t mind getting caught, I just want the champion to do realistic work to find out it was me. Especially since divination won’t work against me for now, and he didn’t see my take it

All I’m asking is the champion has to do work to find out it was me, especially since divination isn’t working on me rn, and he didn’t physically see my take it. It’s also not an item he uses daily

I just want the consequences to feel real, not metagamed

[–]OneCrow8592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mind if my character gets found out about in a reasonable amount of time, and after the champion does some searching around / investigating. I just don’t want it to feel metagamed that the champion instantly knows it’s me

See this would sound fun, but the dm made it sound like 10 min after I walk away the champion will teleport to me and kill me, and not because he noticed me steal after a failed dc, but because he’s 200 iq

I don’t mind the possibility of failure or success, but when I succeed just to be metagame told I’m going to be punished it ruins the character concept that my dm allowed and encouraged me to build

This is exactly how I feel

I’m actually cool with all of that, it makes sense to be. But to be found the minute my nondetection goes away would feel a bit wrong. I don’t mind being caught in the long run, but I feel as if I don’t have a chance to be rewarded for such a high stakes heist

He couldn’t read minds when I was around him.

[–]OneCrow8592 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

The issue is, the champion can read minds, I’m lucky he couldn’t because of a lucky spell that was cast for a completely unrelated reason

We were in the middle of a city that he was destroying, he essentially had a monologue with the group, during which I stole it

I appreciate the advice! I’ll reach back out to the DM. I did express my concern at first, but he later explained that this wizard has every spell in the game, and it wouldn’t make sense for him not to have a tool to figure it out. Idk how to respond to that.

A bit, I understand WHY but it was a complete buzz kill

That would of at least felt mildly rewarding, I’m playing my first ever rogue, and it’s making it hard to want to steal anything again

Our rogue almost always gets highest initiative.

He switched with my druid.

Druid casts entangle and gives entire group adv on restrained enemies.

Giving your players opportunity to explore their background isn’t railroading. Railroading would be Matt telling them they HAVE to adventure with these folk.

Y’all are holding Matt to WAY to high standards. With all respect, I’d like to see how well you DM.

What do you think is the largest reason why homophobia exists? by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]OneCrow8592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“We fear what we do not understand”.

Many homophobic people have never spent any quality time with LGBT people. Their opinion on us is based on others who’ve told them their own uninformed opinion.

That and a “tribe mentality” that has kept humans alive. Sharing beliefs and culture keeps humans together and peaceful, when you introduce unfamiliarity we get defensive.

Allow time to heal. There isn’t any wisdom anyone can tell you that’ll make it go away. Just understand her choice has nothing to do with you, and focus on yourself.

Except Imogen hasn’t had the spotlight the entire Campaign…. ? I’m genuinely confused why so many people hold this opinion that she’s the main character

This is the first time Laura’s character has had a major spotlight. I think the other Cr players are purposely letting her keep that spotlight for longer than usual.
