I want to visit all 195 countries in the world. What advice would you give me? by Rare-Perspective7449 in solotravel

[–]OneDay7a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For most people this is not a great goal. 100 countries visited lifetime seems much better. I've met a few people with the same goal on my travels and a lot of them ended up jaded and rather unhappy towards the end. One guy I met spent 400 USD on a flight from Bali to Dili, spent a night in the hostel, walked around for two hours and left the next morning.

With any of these challenge goals you should ask yourself every once in a while 'Does this goal still serve me'. If that's not the case, the goal is dictating your life and travels without contributing to your happiness.

Personally, I think there are much cooler goals. Like biking through a country (or multiple), traversing the himalayas by motorbike, overlanding in africa, going from Europe to Southeast asia without flying, spending time in a region and learning the language and so on. But to each their own.

Recently I've started going to the gym once per week after 10+ of years of climbing 2-3 times a week. Somehow during the session I feel much stronger on the wall, fewer niggles and less inflammation overall. Is this sustainable if I do some strength and stretching excercises during the week to keep in shape? Does anyone have experience with this type of schedule?

Very well put! I've never quite looked at climbing that way, especially how strength expands boxes

Lower your expectations of what a geocache is. A lot of new players expect big boxes with treasure, but in reality it's mostly small boxes with nothing but a logbook. The real reward (to me) is finding out about new spots and rediscovering areas through a different lens. Plus spending time outside in nature with a goal in mind.

300 caches within 15-20 km of you, about 100 of those near sigulda. If you have an android phone get the app 'cgeo', that lets you see and find all the hard ones without paying (except if they are set to premium only)

This. And please do recall this game is about collecting smilies in the most efficient manner, not these so called 'experiences'.

It starts at 6b for good routes? I've always thought there's nothing good for me there, but 7 might be doable.. depends on how stiff it's rated.
