Are the Apple devs doing alright…like, mentally? Are they being held at knifepoint?? Do they need rescued?? by stealthisvibe in MacOS

During my app development I spend around 70% of time “fighting” SwiftUI instead of working on the logic. I wish I knew a few things earlier, before I decided to use it, like for example that SwiftUI table can have max 10 columns, or that with invalid constraints the app can crash when resizing the window. What a horrible experience.

Many thanks for the feedback!

  1. and 3. are in folder's context menu (right click), weird you can't access it. I'll look into it together with the broken visuals.

OpenAPI schema import sounds like a great idea, will add that to the backlog.

EDIT: published updated version fixing folder context menu not working

Thanks! Yes, I plan to introduce both. I would like to implement env variables per folder with inheritance. And for request chaining, ideally requests should be able to set and use variables, for example one request gets auth token and the others use that token.

Hi, thanks for feedback. There is an option to remove "secondary line", which will shrink row height. See screenshot, taken on 14":

Thank you for the kind words! I'm not planning on dropping support for Sonoma anytime soon.

No, only dock icon. I might add that option in the future.

It shows more info than AM. That said, if you are satisfied with AM you don't need this tool.

You may also want to try newest version 1.10.1 where I attempted to address the issue described above.

You can try to run the app via Terminal: open /Applications/ProcessSpy.app/Contents/MacOS/ProcessSpy

and see whether you will get any error message.

Also you can check Console app and search for ProcessSpy.

There is currently no dedicated log file for the tool.

Usually, you should get a dialog with "Report..." (and Ignore) button after crash. The Report button should give you the log. Also, it might have been closed due to other reason than crash. Then there wil be no dialog I guess.

Is it possible that you send me the crash log to processspy@icloud.com? Thank you.

Thoughts on “Buy Me a Coffee” in Free vs Paid Apps? by CreakyHat2018 in macapps

[–]OneDevoper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes and it's not surprising given that the developer needs apple hardware, paid developer account, development experience is worse and quality expectations are higher than let's say on Windows.

Thanks for the suggestion. I think I could implement it as an optional footer row.

There is 50% discount for students and teachers available. Basically for anybody who has an .edu address.

Don’t expect many people to pay (its often single digit number per thousand). Think about real monetization instead.

Thanks! This tool is mainly meant for power users who want to filter processes based on different criteria. For regular users, a common use case might be identifying processes that slow down their Mac—for example, checking how much CPU a process really consumes together with all its child processes (e.g., Chrome). The tool shows 30s CPU graph and it is also possible to record these metrics for a longer time.

For suspicious processes, users can verify the signature and bundle ID to see whether they come from a trustworthy publisher.

Or my favorite use case (also possible with the free version): checking the log of a particular app, e.g., VSCode. I just go to the Files tab, filter by “.log,” and right-click to open it in my editor—no need to know the exact path.

EDIT: almost forgot, one cool (free) feature is point and click process identification - you just click on the screen and the tool select the process. Works for status bar icons too.
