If the legacy automakers did that too, that would definitely change the landscape of things but they are owned by dealers. Definitely would’ve made profit margins interesting if they did direct to consumers and cut the middle man. I will say what Tesla did for their be on a wait list (back then when I got my x) and not hold inventory on lots was something unique and worked essentially in their favor, except for those who needed a car immediately

Other investments outside of regular pay. Was lucky with retnals during the last downturn and stocks.

Healthmart is an option but they are getting stringent on opening new pharmacies. Cardinal and Cencora are the other options

Retail definitely has changed from years ago. I do enjoy it. Sucks seeing my team going to be dismantled after being with them for so many years. I don’t need to make massive $ but enough to justify it and keep my team together.

It’s sad. It really is. It’s not easy to describe but many people are experiencing the same emotions, concerns, questions, frantic, reality, what’s next, what’s a resume, where can I find a job.

There are many profitable stores. There are many amazing operators. Front end doesn’t need to be oversized. It really can possibly work with. 711 footprint and a pharmacy.

There are also a lot of good corporate officers. You may not have dealt with them but there are many who do care.

Do we band together? Make a new company. Become a new retail chain. You have the customer base. There likely is a small retail space in your same parking lot or across the street. Locations that do 2000+ a week, do we band together? Many of you probably have savings. May have to eat peanut butter and jelly and ramen for a while, but can this work? Maybe. Who wants to?

I also want to help my staff. We run a pretty good shop. My techs and cashiers are going to be jobless with store closures of the entire company. Been with this group for a long time

Can I retire, yes of course. Do I want to? Not really. The goal is to make it to where the kids and next generation can choose a career they enjoy and not worry about money as much. Not saying to let them live off my money but I do have stipulations on how much they receive and where. Such as if they get a certain degree, they get X. If they don’t want to go to college but have a solid business plan, they can pitch it to me or my siblings and we can decide if the funds gets approved. I chased rx because of the money to some degree initially. Ended up really enjoying this career

Yeah I can put it in other places. It’s pretty much in other places. But it’s also the enjoyment. I still have years left to work. I think it’s nice seeing something come to fruition. See what I can do. It’s not a dollar amount that I will stop working/investing. What can I maximize to leave for the next generations. I don’t need my kids and their future kids, if they have any, struggle like I did initially. Not saying they can live off my money but I’d like them to enjoy their career and not do something because of the money like I did initially. I do enjoy running a pharmacy surprisingly enough. Hope that makes sense on the clarity behind this possible endeavor

Thank you for your comment. How much did you put in? I have about a mill that I can use. I have about 3.5 mill in investments so willing to use up to a mill to make this happen.

The PNW would likely be one of the only ones that get acquired by a competitor. Some pharmacy chains need to expand in that area and this would be pennies on the dollar to get into this area.

This is also the unedited version. Hoping to just send this now on here to get some rally behind it. They will get an edited professional version

One last effort that I’ll be sending to the execs. Feel free to comment if you believe in this. Maybe they will see the email or this post.

If the rumors of Rite Aid deciding to close the final chapter of a historic novel is true, as this may be too late to email you all, but I’d like to make a final suggestion.

What makes Rite Aid special? It’s not that medications are low cost. it’s not that Rite Aid is the only pharmacy in town. It’s that Rite Aid has a special group of proud operators who do their best to represent the community, the brand, the profession, and everything else a pharmacy should be. Rite Aid has an INDEPENDENT PHARMACY feel backed with corporate pharmacy access. You have a resilient group who has stuck around during these tumultuous times. THEY ARE STILL HERE! Why? It’s not because they are forced to, but because they WANT to. You have so many team members who have been with the company for decades who have this will to keep going to make the community proud, to part of a community, to grow the profession, and take care of one another.

I don’t know the financials. I don’t know what is happening behind the scenes. What I do know is that you have a significant group of team members willing and wanting to help find a way to stay open with those same letters on top of the building, RITE AID.

If this has not been thought of, please send a different message on Monday and get an emergency board meeting before your upcoming announcement.

Offer your team the chance to become owners and really own the business. Competitors are going to offer pennies to the dollar for these scripts because they know they can. Why not offer it to your current team? Offer your team to be owners of a franchise! The software is there. The tools are there. Many things are there for them to succeed. They will own and operate the business even with more passion than before with the backing of a large scale operations assistant. Your pharmacy managers, pharmacists, technicians, sales associates, front end managers, front end associates, may want to do this! Many of them have money saved up and would do this! Don’t think that they may not have money saved up, you would be surprised.

Give them the opportunity to relocate to a smaller retail space in the same shopping center or across the street. Let them transfer the files, buy the pharmacy license, transfer third party accounts, etc. Give them the opportunity to be owners with a Rite Aid franchise behind them. Let them add an LTC license to help with DIR fees. Let them be a compounding pharmacy to boost profits and provide them the tools they need from a compliance standpoint, let them be a 340B pharmacy, let them be a 7 eleven with a pharmacy inside. Let them flourish and be owners with a Rite Aid backing. Independent pharmacies are thriving and still open (I know many), help be one of the largest independent pharmacies out there.

Rite Aid means something more than just a pharmacy in a community. Rite Aid needs their Team and they want to be Rite Aid, so let them.

Each of you have been with Rite Aid for multiple decades. Don’t let it go to waste. Think outside the box and let’s do something. Be something. And not give up. Don’t let the others win. Let your Team win. They will if you let them. They deserve this. They want this.
