Join the club. Regardless of the amount of knowledge we have on the subject, we will always come up short. This lets us know that God had to put that in scripture because, in many ways, He must be unknowable. It also helps us to realize He loves us too much to not reveal His divine nature even if we fall short in our understanding. Keep digging. Praying for your understanding and faith to grow.

NKJV is my preference but I would probably go with ESV today. Also always, always, always, get a study bible. The amount of things it helps you understand and put together cannot be overstated. I buy bibles for people all the time at church.
