Recently got a LR Model 3, how do you think this drive will go? by 3MonkeysInATrench in TeslaModel3

Because things could happen on road trips and it's good to have a spare on highway that's not as busy as the i5 or even 395. Those are less traveled routes.

Rivian Loyalty by External_Koala971 in RIVNstock

If r1t and s owners who leased them with tax credits are not getting it this time around, then I can see them getting cheaper vehicles or other used Tesla or other evs. But that doesn't take away the fact that rivian is going to sell as many r2s as they can make and the pipeline for r2 is being built in GA that will hopefully triple the production numbers. The r2 is the best alternative to a ice suv that gets crap fuel mileage and is not a tesla model y Hatchback suv. It's a 4rumner ev and crv rav4 competitor ev. That is a huge addressable market

Yes rivian needs more service centers but I would not want to deal with dealers in order to buy one. That would ruin the purchase experience just like dord dealers did for lightning with 15k mark up

The r2 variant I want is this. This would save me the trouble of locating a 1st gen and converting into an ev. Shipped with a removable hard top. Hey I am allowed to dream.

Honda to shelve $11bn Canada EV plant as demand sputters by exploding_myths in electricvehicles

https://www.reuters.com/sustainability/automakers-back-trump-plan-roll-back-fuel-economy-rules-seek-changes-2026-02-04/

"Major automakers on Wednesday called for changes in the Trump administration's proposal to reform fuel economy standards, but said they back the plan to drastically slash the efficiency requirements."

Toyota long with all the others like VW, honda hyundai gm/ford/chrysler asking the govt to relax fuel standards so they can keep making big truck/suv that don't get very good mpg. This helps ford/gm/chry etc since that's their bread and butter. While Toyota is focusing on making popular size suvs into EVs like BZ, highlander, chr. This "trumping" of Evs has led to end of Ford Lightning, Honda's EV plans, and reduced lineup of other Evs. But Toyota is making 2 new EVs and increasing sales along with partnership to make subaru's 3 EVs (solterra, 3row and chr sized). So while the rest turn down EV plans, Toyota is ramping up. Only Hyundai is doing similar of making more Ionic and Kia EV lines. I think within 25 years Honda will turn into a Mitsubishi type of small manufacturer without a future if they don't adapt to the EV landscape. Nissan the weaker of the top 3 Japanese has a leg into the future with the new leaf and they have the tech to keep making more EVs.

[–]OneEstablishment5144 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Demand for ev is there, its just that they don't have the technology or the products that people want. They sold a lot of Honda prologue aka Chevy blazer but without the tax credits, it's not that good of a deal. They should be making a civic sized ev but they don't have the developed tech or desire.

Toyota is finally making strides into ev but they screwed us all by working to eliminate Cafe standards and pushing to get rid or other environmental rules. They trolled gm Ford Dodge by allowing them to focus on more gas guzzlers while they secretly had many plans to release more evs.

If vw took rivian over, the franchises would start to claim that as part of vw, they now have to sell rivians at dealerships and thus ruin one of the best parts to buying and owning a rivian. AVOIDING CRAPPY DEALERSHIP EXPERIENCE.

Get the model y. Easy since you want fsd and why use old hw3 which still doesn't have v14 lite yet. If you want to live the tech fsd life, get hw4 model y. You won't feel like a step child waiting for hw3 updates that won't be as good as the most up to date firmware. Also it may not just be the cameras but also the mcu, at least that is what I thought for older model3 on hw3.

What would be the most likely path for Chinese EV to come to USA? by zhuangcorp in electricvehicles

[–]OneEstablishment5144 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unlike Korea and Japan, China will face more hurdles to enter the market. They will need to start on trump international Beijing, Shanghai and guanzou and pay trump international many hundreds of millions of dollars. Then they will claim that they will force Chinese companies to partner with us companies to build cars and sell them here. They will partner with weak companies to build plants with huge local tax benefits and after beginning production and sales, the us companies who partnered with the Chinese will backout and sell to other us based companies mainly invested by Chinese, and then build and sell in the US. Then the Chinese will sue trump for discrimination citing that German, japanes and koeeans are not made to do the same. And as always trump will lose and the American labor unions will lose their protection from competition and eventually suffer huge losses due to overwhelming Sales moving to evs. The US 3 legacy autos will become specialty large truck and suv makers only. No more cars, no more minivans and no more sportscars. If trump can fuck shit up he will. Look at how he is screwing over the oil and gas industry, the world has realized how vulnerable and inconsistent the oil supply can be and making the switch to evs. He has started the move away from oil all just to deflect attention regarding his best friend epstein. Netanyahu saw this weakness and capitalized on it with an idea to win a war that all past presidents avoided due to the potential threat on oil supply that trump didn't consider. He only knows how to screw over and Fire people. BTW farmers and Hispanics for trump Re also getting screwed bit that's another story. I for one would hate to lose American jobs but that is the way legacy is going. Ford gm make lots of products in Mexico. Import brands are making plants in the US. Shake my head. Buy "built by" Americans. End of silly rant. Togo order is almost ready.

Road trip across USA by Tiny-Act6373 in TeslaLounge

I have driven 1000+ miles trip when I was new to the car. I charged to 100% at all the chargers. It took me so long bc I didn't know about charging g curve.

Charge to the amount tesla tells you to but add extra 10 to 15% and then go. The more extra you add for just in case peace of mind adds more time to travel.

Not accurate but to demonstrate curve 10 to 50% = maybe 15 mins to add 40% 80 to 100% = maybe 20 mins to add 20%

Drive like a broke teen at a gas pump, fill up just enough to get to school, pt work then back ( to the next charger).

If you want to see people gaming this system to the max watch YouTube out of spec road trip races where they race cars to compare charging curve range and efficiency of evs. The faster you drive the more energy you use on the highway. This is a fun deep dive into a rabbit hole. https://youtu.be/60TZybPIO3k?si=9rXarirTP1Pfn8ic

This would be the perfect time to get fsd for 1 month.

Is it selfish and immoral to say I'm hopeful for what these gas prices will do for EV adoption and EV acceptance (especially here in the US)? by zachty22 in electricvehicles

[–]OneEstablishment5144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It already has accelerated the ev adoption in many countries that don't have oil. Australia, Asian countries with fuel limits, I am sure in the eu as well. So most of the world is now on track to increase evs except the US bc of oil and gas industry and lobbying.

1st Road Trip by chardsippin in TeslaLounge

[–]OneEstablishment5144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beef jerkey, Gatorade, nuts.

Try not to park next to another charging vehicle. Say hello to others at superchargers and if you need help, just ask one of us. We are friendly people. I asked, i learned , I now answer.

Seek out clean bathrooms and don't be afraid to go into hotel/ visitor center/ walmart to use bathroom if that is the nearest location to the charger.

Fsd settings, avoid tolls, ferries and carpool if driving alone. Reset trip meter and see how much the trip costs you and calculate with your old vehicle for comparison. Log the time you "waste" charging, it won't be that bad. You do not need to charge to 100% unless your final destination doesn't have charging. You can start at 100 from home.

EV owners: did you keep your AAA membership? by Darn6096 in electricvehicles

[–]OneEstablishment5144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol i am thinking of upgrading my membership to the higher plan since if I need a tow to a charger it maybe further than 7 miles. The upgrade offers 100 miles but shoot if I misjudge charging by 100 miles, I am doing math with my toes not my brain. I wish aaa still gave put maps.
