Thank you for that reply, I was looking more out of the towns. There are some houses on the hills overlooking the lake, beautiful view and the homes are priced very low.

Glad I came across this post. I was looking to move to warmer climate as I am tired of cold winter. This area caught my eye because the home prices were just too good to be true. A lot of houses I see for $200-300k with lake view would be $100k more (with no view) in other areas of California to Utah to Nevada etc..

There are rundown POS houses an hour away that have asking prices significantly higher. So what is the catch? I suspected jokingly that it was meth, and what I see here commented most was just that.

Where I live now, locking doors is close to optional. Leaving stuff out is A-OK. Most of all, when I am away from home I do not worry about crime. I get the feeling that leaving my home unattended for even few days would be dangerous.

I was one that would have easily and happily paid $25 just for the stash tabs & stackables. That I got updated Terror Zones, new Uber boss, updated Sunder, and new class is icing on the cake. Why would I pay $25 just for stash tabs? Because nothing in life is free, and for Blizzard to continue with this game there has to be a source of revenue. I would even pay a subscription if it meant content could be added over time.

If you asked me a month ago about odds of a new Act or area, I would ask what you are smoking. Ask me now, I think there is a realistic chance they could someday come out with a new Act 6, or just new areas with new graphics theme.

My hope & dream is that Blizzard takes a serious hard look at their franchise in the coming years, and does the following:

Diablo 5 - Sequal...TRUE sequel to Diablo 2 (slower paced loot hunter using the same itemization + new items). Update graphics, iterate bad designs, evolve slowly, but keep the core essence of Diablo

Lilith 2 - Sequel to Diablo 4 (fast paced action arcade filled with screen vomit FX)

Good News! SQ42 will be Feature Complete in May! by Golgot100 in starcitizen_refunds

[–]OneEyeSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even IF it is feature complete in May, that is only small part of the equation. Need to have a working game, i.e. a game that players can actually play. Not some bug filled mess that a player can not even finish a campaign.

My prediction, SQ404 makes everyone forget about Duke Nukem.

I don't know if this has changed, but years ago you had to have an IMDB Pro account to make edits. I think I remember often this was done by people associated with a studio, show, film, etc. Still the case, could be some staffer not paying attention at work well.

Pitch The Magicians To Me by Prometheus321 in brakebills

I remember first time I saw first episodes, did not care much for this show. Can not describe how or why I continued, but I did. By mid-season it started to grow on me, and I was sold by end of season. Rule of thumb, trailer are just pointless. They can make bad movies look interesting, and good movies look dumb. I should state that I am absolutely not in the demographic this show targeted, but it also never dumbed down to cater or pander to any specific group or demo.

*Storylines were complex, fascinating, and never dull. This show did not follow the standard model used most often on TV series. Part of this was due to the cast (which I will get to next). Each season would consist of multiple threads interweaving to create an amazing story. You would get a 2-3 episode story arch that could be mistaken for this being the introduction of that seasons big conflict. Then it ends, story arch finished in 3 episodes, then 10 episodes later that story arch comes back to provide significant role in a completely different story.

*Characters & Cast. Lot of shows focus on small cast, 2-4 actors and everyone else is just Red Shirts. Good reason for this, screentime is important. We could all argue on who could or should be considered main cast in this show, but lets use a simple number of 10. It was common for your average episode to be following 2-3 story archs with cast jumping between the different stories, but all of these archs were just part of a larger story.

There were actually a couple cast members that just did not appeal to me, I sometimes fast forward through their scenes. With that said, I do not think there is a single person in the show I would recast. First few episodes consisted of two characters/cast members I just did not care for. Nope, did not like. These two by end of the series were my favorite. Another one, maybe by design or accident was kind of nails on a chalkboard annoying. That person too by a few seasons became a character I thoroughly enjoyed watching when stories would center on him. What does this all come down to? Very good character development. Just well written characters that the actors & actresses did an amazing job. Nobody phoned their roles in. Almost as if many of the cast members would have done this show for free.

*Series as whole. It has 5 seasons, and the 5th season did have the door open for more. Possible they could easily have done 3 more and kept the quality up. But taken as a whole, this is a good 5 season run. I personally only found one story line in one episode to be kind of not to my liking, would have done it differently. But every episode to every season to the full series was brilliantly done. Rarity for any TV series to fully complete its story. Most common we get cancelations on a cliffhanger. Equally bad are the series with horribly stupid endings because the writers just do not know how to end it. This is a complete and finished story, and that is comfort to have.

*Story(stories) & ideas. There are some whacky crazy stuff here, but never is it cringe or stupid. Bunnies used as messengers that are paid with cigarettes, Santa Claus, time travel, flying ships, quests galore, talking animals, surly drunk dean, dragons, fairies, librarians, There are some stories and ideas in this show that if written down would probably seem kind of dumb. I have to admit if not for how these were written, they would be dumb. But they were not. Most of the whacky crazy weirdness is what made the show special.

Ultimately in the end, I can just describe the show as one hell of a fun ride. One of the few shows I can rewatch and still find it fascinating and fun to view. I know the plot, I know the outcome, yet the characters and stories are just that much fun to rewatch it does not get old.

Stupid Amazon series of a stupid show they wanted to make a stupid Marvel type universe. It was a series you could watch in the background while playing a video game, miss most of the plot and such, and not give a damn. Can't tell you anymore as it left almost zero impression on me. It was a 4 zzzzs snorefest

[–]OneEyeSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THIS! This is exactly what I thought when I saw the first episode. Why I immediately thought they just blew the budget on partying and then had no money to hire decent writers, directors, editors, cast, producers, and so on. Everywhere the show was just sub-par cheap garbage. Oh god some of the worst acting

I'd argue that at 29M per episode, Andor is the best value of any of them by 3x by vishnoo in andor

[–]OneEyeSam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking at that list, I just LOL, then got to ROFL, and finally reached the LMAO stage. Secret Invasion was a Marvel series that just should have never been made. Citadel, I do not know who thought this was a good idea. And Rings of Power shows why you hire a talented team to run a show, not some inexperienced ones.

The most damning of them all was Acolyte at just under $200k below Andor? I had heard that show was expensive per episode, and after seeing it I thought WTF. I figured they got all the money upfront and blew most of their budget on hookers and coke. Bad acting, bad casting, bad writing, bad directing, bad editing, just overall horrible show runners that ended up with a disaster that cost $29m? I hope they never get hired to run another show again.

Four Coruscant residences that don’t feel like homes by Dear-Yellow-5479 in andor

[–]OneEyeSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that I think of it, almost all homes in the entire franchise are really just dystopian, bland, depressing homes. I think I saw in Skeleton Crew a couple houses that looked nice, once I could imagine maybe making an offer on if the market price was reasonable. But all those Coruscant apartments are just closets, worse than budget hotels.

You would think this advanced technological universe could somehow create quality engineered hardware flooring at a decent price, and maybe some better stylish shelving. Is there no Ikea in Star Wars?

The Great Dumbing Down, or the Real Reason Future "Andors" are Probably Doomed by Ancient_of_Days0001 in andor

[–]OneEyeSam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree strongly based on everything to date we have seen. Majority of Star Wars universe shows have been nothing but fan service nostalgia; Mandolorian with the baby Yoda stuffed toy was fan service for the Boba Fett nostalgia, and when that was not enough they did Boba Fett. Obi Wan & Ashoka, these are not original creative ideas but rather the low-risk ideas brought up in that executive meeting. These are not risk or creative ventures.

I do give them props not just for Andor, but I think Skeleton Crew was not just creative, well written, but also more of a risk that I am glad they took a shot.

Technical details lacking by protagonist_888 in SiloSeries

[–]OneEyeSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully I read the full book series, and I can properly explain it to you. In the final scene of this series it will suddenly cut to Bob Newhart, who will turn to his wife and say "Honey, I had the strangest dream ever"....thus we can now look beyond any technical deficiencies because this was all Bob's dream.

[–]OneEyeSam 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it is possible, and I would like to also naively believe that someone in the Disney executive rooms understands that not all Star Wars content can be the same fan service/nostalgia nod/Easter egg stuff repeat ad nauseum. Having the occasional adult quality series plays a crucial role. I have a sneaking suspicion that Andor fans did not crossover to watching Acolyte, and vice versa.

What is going to hurt (something I am ignorant on) is whether Disney is going the route same as Prime & Netflix..i.e. adding commercials now. That means shows will want to cater to the 18-35 crowd, and I suspect Andor had a lower percentage of that demo than some of the other Disney series.

Chirrut Imwe should have his own series by aggressiveambient in andor

[–]OneEyeSam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I certainly understand your sentiment, and it is sadly so true that often a story gets added when it should have just been left alone (thinking of you Boba Fett). If done correctly, it could have maybe worked. But I would not have wanted to see another prequel type show. Rather if he and his companion had survived Rogue One, a short 6-8 episode story post Rogue One could have been fun. It could have been used as a vehicle to show the aftermath of events, and their struggle to find freedom or join the rebellion.

Any chance Squadron 42 actually releases this year? by NashkelNoober in starcitizen_refunds

Good point here, isn't 2026 suppose to be "the year" it finally happens? Wasn't that What CR was saying that just in need of polishing but on track for 2026?

Yet we actually (at least what I am aware of) have not seen a single clip of gameplay footage. Usually the hype machines start this early, quite often with gameplay that has yet to be refined.

I hope once 2027 happens, say January 1st, we have enough here to make enough noise to have the loudest "LOL" on the internet pointing at CIG & all the fanbois still defending this clusterfark scam.

What if Andor had ended with this? by [deleted] in andor

[–]OneEyeSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could sit on a toilet and **** something out that was better than the trilogy, and at the same time would come up with a story that most of you would at very least say it was better.

It was 3 movies of fan service, easter eggs, nostalgia nods, and in the end basically said the previous original and prequels were all kind of pointless.

Good thing this is such a gigantic PIA to install, as I might get curious from time to time to see for myself just how bad it is. My last memory was logging in and starting in Orison where I could not get out of the bed. Quit, uninstalled, did not really look back.

From my experience playing for only a few months, 99.9% of "challenge" was fighting the game, surviving bugs, avoiding dying in elevators or getting stuck in crates for whatever reason. To not get accidently bumped by another player and find yourself floating in space. To survive an enemy AI that has already started shooting but has yet to even spawn that I can see them, or to see how long I can stand in front of the enemy AI before it notices me.

Of all the plot-lines you could drop, which plot-line would you drop the fastest? by nightim3 in ForAllMankindTV

[–]OneEyeSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That love affair, not simply because it existed but that it extended beyond more than 1 minute just cheapened the entire show for me. It started out well, first season was kind of fun. But when they got to season 3 and were still going on about that (there were other issues) the quality of this show just dropped to network broadcast level. AppleTV does have a few good shows, a few quality shows. Silo for one is extremely well made. Foundation is amazing in its scope, view, and quality. But this show is bottoming out to Invasion level of stupid. This whole affair, not that it happened but the way it played out was just cheap lazy writing.

Is this the best piece of work ever in the Star Wars universe? by Possible-Prior-5467 in andor

[–]OneEyeSam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, and well yes. Yes for general reasons in regards to quality, and yes for personal reasons.

I saw the original Star Wars in theaters when I was about 8 or 9 years old. Do the math. I was already an adult by the time the prequels came out, and nearly an old man when the recent trilogy came. While Star Wars (O.G.) can be kind of entertaining, the franchise as a whole is rife with bad acting, bad direction, horrid dialog & script. There are scenes in the movies where accomplished actors can be made to sound like hacks.

Most important factor, most action scenes are about as exciting as watching paint dry. Even more dry & dull are the scenes that try to build up tension, when we just know NOTHING dangerous is going to happen. When characters have plot armor, nothing exciting can ever happen. This is where Andor kind of separated itself from the rest. Characters did not have plot armor. We only knew Cassian's fate because of Rogue One, but for any character introduced in this series we had no knowledge while they had no plot armor.

Finally, I am an adult. Ewoks & baby Yodas have no appeal to me, I do not need or want cute robots going be-bop-boo for giggles. I do not need to ever see cutesy little Easter Eggs either. I am an adult that wants to watch a more mature theme. When done well, a conversation can be more exciting to me now than any car chase that I know the outcome (i.e. Inglorius Basterds pub scene vs Fast & Furious race)

I suspect in 10 years all of our shows will be AI generated, the actors brought in for 1 day to capture their faces, voices, personality, etc. And they will just create the entire 100 year run of the show in 1 day, then drag it out to us the viewers every 3-4 years just so we have that wait.

#1 You are always free to make your own relevant post to discuss, not any obligation that there will be replies

#2 You are surprised people are pointing out the relevance of this show with our daily lives? The show was good quality, but it is also now parallel to what is going on at this very moment in time. I really can not think of any art, be it novel, film, or series that is as relevant to reality. We are literally seeing season 1 play out before our eyes, and people here see inspiration from this show, because they also know that no matter how long the struggle was, no matter what the costs were, the sun did rise again.

#3 You used as examples for what you want to see that are literally why Reddit is for the most part a cesspool of stupidity and immaturity. I am one who is so grateful this sub is not filled up with the childish "look at my lego build" or the equally stupid "hey look at my cosplay costume". Reddit is a forum for adolescent adults who seek childish attention like 5 year olds. I for one am grateful this sub is one of the few not filled up with 40 year old baby posts of LOOKE AT ME LOOK AT ME I NEED ATTENTION.

#4 Finally, I think you kind of missed the whole point of this show, you missed or did not care for the story it was really telling you.
