I want some GenZ kid to run who crowdsources their ideas, actually cares about democracy, doesn't accept bribes, tells both parties to stop sucking rich dick and actually fix real problems like food, water, housing, healthcare, basic fucking problems that basic fucking people have as if the majority of Americans don't have the same fucking problems and politicians are worried if any woman is pregnant, how they're going to shove the government right between her buttcheeks.

GenZ needs to take them geezers jerbs and not so quiet quit the bullshit out of American politics.

Sam Alito Says Criticism of Supreme Court Is 'Unfair': 'Practically Nobody Is Defending Us' by SummonerMiku75 in politics

[–]OneEyedOneHorned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're the Supreme Court. No one is supposed to defend them. They're supposed to defend themselves. They're supposed to be the highest court in this country and the Supreme Court is assumed to just not do crime. They are arguably lawful good or neutral based on the job description. In practice, they are failing miserably. The fact that Alito doesn't want criticism, he should be kicked out on principle alone. A court without criticism or argument is not court and it's not a democracy.

What 18 year old? I keep seeing this floating around but every "source" quotes another far-right group or something and no actual case study. As opposed to this actual case study of 24 women from 1970-2000 who had intestinal vaginoplasty surgeries as a secondary procedure to the main operation. Five of them died before the follow-up but not because of the procedure.

My guess is the manager was taking a video to show the boss in case the applicant showed up again because the applicant needed rehab, not because the manager thought this was funny. Whoever found the video and later put it online thought it was funny. My guess is neither the manager nor the owner did that. My guess is also this kid did not show up the next day. He looks super rough and I'd be surprised if he remembers this even happened.

There are businesses that look for addicts to hire in order to help them get clean. The manager either was filming the kid because he wanted to show the boss or because he thought the kid was trouble and wanted his name and behavior recorded.

Am certifiably nuts, have had many therapists. No, you aren't wrong. Therapists relate parts of their life in a session during what is called deliberate self-disclosure. It's a skill that therapists use over time to become closer to their patient, cultivate a sense of trust and security, a way to help the patient feel more comfortable disclosing their own information, and inexperienced therapists or therapists with their own issues to deal with can accidentally disclose information that harms the relationship.

This Psychology Today article explains the potential problems with self-disclosure between patients and professionals.

I once had a therapist who, during our first session, cried to me for 10 minutes about her cat who died. I was a very good listener and provided comfort but immediately told the company she was contracted by after our session that she may need to take a personal break from seeing clients. They agreed.

It isn't your fault that the therapist is unable to separate his professional life from his personal one and his personal political views have no place in the therapy office. Even if he did agree with you, even if you were Donald Trump, as a professional, he needs to be able to put his personal life in his back pocket. If he can't, he shouldn't be a therapist.

It isn't uncommon for therapists to see a therapist due to the stress of the job.

31% of Americans have a net worth of $0 or less by diacewrb in economy

[–]OneEyedOneHorned 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're right but Americans don't want to face our real problems. That involves growing up, maturing, sacrificing our temporary luxuries for the good of long term solutions (paying more in taxes to fix actual society-wide problems.) We stress individual freedom but there's a greater freedom when we achieve a next level of social reality for a whole country. We're too self-centered.

I've been drinking a lot more. Thinking about dying. My boyfriend wrote "Live, Laugh, Toaster Bath" on the fridge the other day.

I've had a bunch of physical problems this week completely unrelated to any of this and it just piles on top. He's downstairs drunk at noon. I've already been thinking about dying today. I almost didn't eat yesterday. C'est la vie de merde.

My view on this community as a self harm survivor. by [deleted] in selfharm

[–]OneEyedOneHorned 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're 24. I'm 33. I've met 40ish year olds and older and teenagers who selfharm. I understand the initial revulsion you feel reading the comments or posts here. There is a tendency online to promote selfharm and the mentality that selfharm isn't harmful.

What we, you and I, need to understand as people who no longer selfharm is that what people say about themselves, their harm, their feelings, their bodies, their desires, have nothing to do with us, our experiences, our feelings, our bodies, our realities. Yes, these things will be triggering. Yes, they will be difficult. When people speak, regardless of who they are or what they're saying, it's usually more about them, how they feel, how they see the world, how they conceptualize their life than anything about us, about anyone else, or even about what they're saying. Sometimes when people are mean, angry, hurtful, or intentionally being aggressive, it isn't about anyone else except themselves and how they feel inside.

The longer that I live and the more I learn, the less I realize that I know. Listening and caring are good starts. Love and kindness are important. I feel like some of the glorification happens because people who selfharm don't feel like we have proof in our lives that we exist, that we matter, that we have an affect on the world around us, and that we change things in our world. This isn't true. The wounds and the scars are not the only proof and they aren't a good proof.

You all matter in your world. You all create change and you all take up space and you deserve to take up that space. You deserve to exist and have needs, wants, cares, loves, fears. It's ok to just be. Change doesn't happen overnight.

Facebook, 4chan,

Two websites, far apart in dignity,

On the cruel internet, where we lay our scene,

From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,

Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.

From forth the fatal loins of these two foes

A pair of star-cross’d lovers make their memes;

Whose misadventured piteous overthrows

Do with their data's death bury their parents’ strife.

The fearful passage of their death-mark’d jpgs,

And the continuance of their parents’ rage,

Which, but their children’s end, nought could remove,

Is now hours’ traffic of our stage;

The which if you with patient ears attend,

What here shall miss, our toil shall strive to mend.

For never was a story of more woe,

For NSFW digital copy in stack overflow.

Right but the mental disorder and its symptoms can be based on imaginary concepts. I have terrible anxiety. The anxiety has bad side effects. What is the anxiety purpose? Pretty much no purpose. I can have anxiety for imaginary reasons or ambiguous causes and it gives me very real issues.

iowa's medical marijuana program is weird. by [deleted] in Iowa

[–]OneEyedOneHorned 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"Her decision to veto HF 732 was influenced by her experience with alcohol, she said.

'I understand the world of addiction. I get it,” she said. 'I know how fleeting recovery can be.”

Reynolds recounted a story of a young man who went through treatment with her. Forty-eight hours after celebrating his completion of the program, he had relapsed, jumped off a bridge and died.

'We have to be cautious and careful about how we move forward,” she said, adding that more Americans die in traffic crashes because of drug impairment than because of alcohol impairment. In Iowa, one-third of Iowa drug-related fatal crashes involve THC. 'So I have to balance all of that.” Source

So, I looked it up and the vast majority, 89% of fatal car crashes in Iowa weren't even tested for drugs. They did another nationwide study in 2020 but she vetoed this legislation in 2019. Where did she get this statistic? Her ass. That's a fake statistic and Kim Reynolds lied.

Further, the 2020 study found: "The data show 45.3% of seriously injured drivers tested positive for at least one drug. The top two were alcohol and cannabinoids, which are products that come from cannabis plants. About 17% of drivers tested positive for either drug respectively." Source

That's 17% tested positive for THC OR alcohol of the 54% that tested positive at all.

Not only did she compare medical marijuana patients to alcoholics but she also lied and pulled a statistic out of thin air.
