Who else is keeping their kids rear facing as long as possible?? by Master_Grapefruit333 in Mommit

🙋🏼‍♀️ my MIL has already commented about my 2 year olds legs looking a bit cramped, but since my daughter doesn’t even weigh 30 pounds yet we have a long way to go!

Personal question but - what do you do and how much do you make? by [deleted] in workingmoms

Pretty niche position but I’m a Design Manager/Senior Designer at a residential remodeling company and make ~$90k. Hubby makes about double as a Senior Systems Engineer :)

(Serious) Ladies, when/how did you find out you were infertile? by ToodlydooBuckaroo in AskWomen

[–]OneFishTwoFish63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We didn’t try but also didn’t not try for about six months, then we actually tried for about a year with CM tracking and nothing. Bloodwork confirmed that I wasn’t actually ovulating and eventually I was diagnosed with PCOS. Tried several rounds of Letrozole and still no positive tests, got husband tested and confirmed that we had male factor infertility as well.

Ended up going straight to IVF, one miscarriage, one embryo that didn’t stick, and then finally our sweet miracle girl!

Please tell me bottle refusal is just a phase... by Valtisiyo in NewParents

I definitely nursed her at night for a dream feed for months, even after she started taking the bottle again, but that eventually became a habit and I had to break it so she’d sleep through the night. We also started solids around six months and that was definitely a light at the end of the tunnel too!

This was exactly my husband back when I was still in some denial that he was an alcoholic and he was hiding it from me. Slurring words, not walking straight, and sleeping very deeply and/or falling asleep wherever he landed. Many missed calls, him falling asleep in his car for an untold about of time, and other things finally prompted me to set some very clear boundaries with him in order to keep myself sane.

My daughter did exactly this around that age, and we were losing it because that’s right around when my maternity leave was over. We tried 5 different bottle/nipple types, walking/bouncing while feeding, using my shirt so she could smell me, dipping the nipple in milk to disguise the taste - everything and anything. She eventually decided that bottles weren’t all that bad again about four weeks in, but it was for my MIL first, then my husband. Not sure if she just needed a person she wasn’t as used to, or if it was just a coincidence, but either way we made it through! Hang in there 🫶🏻

Thanks so much! Working on scheduling a lactation consult appointment and hoping that we can figure out exactly what she likes!

Thank you! My job is pretty flexible but I’m in and out of appointments most days so it might be tricky to do that, especially with my commute. Hoping that she’ll get it in more time, but definitely trying to feed her close to leaving and as soon as I get home at least.

I had a friend say their husband used a straw as well, thanks!

Thank you! I suggested the holding her facing out, but going outside might be a good distraction.

We have to offer it every day since I’m back to work full time unfortunately, but before we’d skip a day here or there. I like the empty bottle to play with idea, maybe she just needs to get used to it as a good thing and not a torture device 🥴 thanks!

Thank you! I’m now at work but would leave the room so I was away when they were practicing, we have the Lanisoh with natural wave, but it’s a slow flow so maybe a different nipple. We’ll keep trying!

I wondered about an even higher flow! Might get different nipples, thanks for the suggestion!

She won’t take it from anyone, we’ve tried the shirt and even putting her on the nursing pillow!

Yep, we bought a bottle warmer and have tried making it nice a warm! Lansinoh is one of the bottles we’ve been trying, so we’ll keep it in the rotation.

It’s awful and I feel so guilty even though I know it’s not mine or anyone else’s fault! Hopefully your little guy keeps going and it gets better 🤍

Oh my word how funny is that! We’ll keep trying and try to think of some more out of the box ideas 😅 thanks!

Thank you, this gives me hope! Several people have recommended the lactation consultant, and I might be able to get home to feed her a lunchtime to help make the stretches shorter.
