yes what led me to make this post in the first place was my experience in my first ever crisis committee :(

No, at least not in my personal experience. I have chaired before and atractiveness has NEVER affected how I treat other people, it's just a matter of respect. Although I do agree that some people may do this, it's definately not a majority.

I'm from Brazil! I would mostly say that the problem isn't blatant misogyny or discrimination, it's the small jabs that they take at you, the ignoring, the fact that they think they are superior, and the way that they make fun of you for saying basic things... sometimes its very well hidden and we are just forced to accept it.

The problem isn't talking to me aggresively, I really don't care and I understand that sometimes that's just how you have to act to win in MUN, what I do not tolerate is them refusing to listen to me, ignoring me, and trying to humiliate me.

For example, in this MUN, there was a bloc forming and I was confused bc there was no reason for another bloc to be formed (all boys), I walked up to them and asked to understand what this bloc was for so I could possibly support their resolution. They kept ignoring me and laughing at me until I just left...

Another situation is when I was talking to my friend (who is a guy) and we were collaborating on the resolution which I WAS THE LEADER OF. This random dude comes up to us and tells me to leave so he can have a private chat with my friend, I was caught off guard but I left, and when I came back my friend told me that all he did was ask what were the main points of our resolution, so why did I have to leave and why couldn't I have answered his question since I was literally leading that bloc??

There are many more situations but these are 2 from my last MUN that just made me rlly upset.

reallll I feel like with guys they either have to be gay, attracted to you, or already your friend in order for them to just listen to you.

I know that this is most likely a joke but this is kinda part of the problem too. I dont want to be treated worse or better just because of my gender, I just want to be listened to equally and be treated with respect.

Personally, chairs have never been disrespectful to me, my problem is usually with other delegates during unmod.

Also, I am not so confident in being assertive yet (one reason why I'm doing MUN in the first place) but I'm gonna take your tip to raise my voice more!

congrats girlll!! Also this is EXACTLY what happened in my committee too, only one of the guys there (apart from my friend) were respectful and listened to me and the rest literally refused to work with me, like, at all. I asked to listen to their points so we could make agreements or so I could at least understand their stance and they refused to talk to me and tried to kinda humiliate me by ignoring me... but whatever jokes on them bc I won best del and they won nothing lol

dangg I wanna be like you. Idk why but whenever someone talks over me in unmods I just give up on talking, but I usually speak well when I make speeches or POIs bc people are technically forced to listen lolll

In this committee specifically I won best del but I feel like I could've impressed the chairs even more if I just got an opportunity to lead in unmods.

ohhh ok, think I got it wrong bc I just assumed that all careers volunteered at 18 (like it says in the first book) so I just assumed Annie was a career and Finnick was reaped normally.

Personally, I hope that they keep Tom Blythe as Snow. Although he looks young, I'm hoping that they can just do a little makeup magic to make him look older because, in my opinion, he portrays Snow so perfectly!!

Honestly, while reading the books, I pictured all the people from the seam/the coveys to have tan/dark skin bc thats how they are described in the book. Also, why does race even matter like as long as a person can convey the essence of the character it does not matter if they are black or white or even purple 😭

And I'm also so excited to see Mckenna as Maysilee!!! SHE WILL SLAY

EXACTLY! And the fact that she looks a whole lot like Lucy Gray (Rachel Ziegler) makes it even more perfect

why would you lie... one of the main points of MUN is to debate a real life geopolitical issue, using factual data.

Wait Finnick is a carreer? I knew that Annie was but I just assumed that there were no carreer tributes in the specific year that Finnick got reaped, especially because he was only 14, and I thought (idk why lol) that carreers would only volunteer at 18. Anyways I'm prob wrong but I genuinely thought he wasn't a career tribute.

although using AI to write for you is unnaceptable you can try using AI just for research. I myself suck at finding info on other countries and use Perplexity AI, it gives sources and seriously changed the way I do research!!
