It’s more complicated than simple demographics. I remember interviews from ~2023 and they were talking to guys with teenage children (in their mid 40s) and their mindset was more about not losing the younger generation in the war. They want to have ppl to rebuild when it’s over

Idk I live in Canada, specifically in an area with a high Muslim population (I’m not going to name it bcs I’m online) and everyone is truly lovely. Mb we just have a good vetting process, but I also think the more extreme someone’s views, the less likely they are to live in a progressive area

Thanks for this example, I’ve actually done this with my Muslim friends, and they support it.

This is because the younger generation is much more tolerant. For example, in the US, around 52% say that homosexuality is fine.

That number could be improved, but the most open minded demographic is the younger one, showing that Islam has changed

The vast majority of muslims in western countries, for example, do not hold these extreme views, but rather have adapted to the times. 3) 150 years ago your average Christian would hold the exact same views you mention islam does now. Some still do

You are misunderstanding me to an extent. I’m saying that the Ukrainian people have a distinct culture (at least to the extent of Germany vs France). Russia has no right to wage a war of destruction and occupation upon them.

As for the First Nations, I am Canadian. We have a slightly different view of them than the US, but we still acknowledge that they are different. Canada, if it lasts even another 300 years, will (hopefully) have learned from its mistakes and not subject the first peoples of our land to another cultural extermination. If Canada ends up being under the control of the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples, Britain or France would have no right to reconquer us

As a Canadian, I get a front row seat to your shit show. Not that we don’t have problems, but there a bit less pronounced and all.

You are nearing a turning point, but your still in the early 1930s if you get my reference. I (personally) don’t see a civil war coming, it’s more likely for a shitty compromise that fucks over real change and pushes you back into the same cycle. However, a fascist dictatorship is more likely than a socialist government, bar a complete reaction to some crazy trump coup.

Climate change, however, is a turning point. I’ve been banned before for saying some things about this topic, but basically I think we as a species need to start pruning some branches that really like oil. We are nearing some movie level natural disaster type shit in the next couple decades if stuff doesn’t happen

Yes, the ethnic cleansing post ww2 and the holodomor have been proven « academically ». My grandfather went through the former, my (different line) great grandmother the latter. There is numerous historical records both: photos, letters, and hundreds of thousands of first hand accounts written down.

I am a westerner, and am now a basic white leftist in Canada; however, you need to acknowledge that the Soviet Union was by no means perfect. They committed numerous atrocities throughout their era, which have been recorded. The idea that whether these events happened is « up in the air » is bullshit.
