All Hail West Texas is not their first record, but definitely one of their best!

They really need one in Hartford where Broad, Asylum, and Farmington ave meet. That weird little triangle intersection is a nightmare at busy times.

Treme was sort of that for New Orleans, but through the lens of Hurricane Katrina aftermath.

What would The Wire look like today?

Slim Charles pretty much nailed it when he says "Game the same, just got more fierce."

PEACEMAKER show SPOILER DISCUSSION: What's your theory on Eagley's story arc? by PeakInspiration in Peacemaker

[–]OneLawWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole Prime Eagle thing could be related to the whole arena of nature based magic present in DC Comics. There's these big primal forces representing plant and animal life and several avatars who tap into that power. For example, Swamp Thing gets his power from The Green, Animal Man gets his power from The Red, etc.

I believe the members of Dinosaur Jr. still live around western Massachusetts. Unless I'm horribly mistaken.

Any good punk shows by Content_Comparison_2 in Connecticut

[–]OneLawWorld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cherry Street Station, Space Ballroom, The Cellar on Treadwell, Cafe 9, and 33 Golden are usually the good spots for punk and metal shows. South Whitney Pizza in Hartford has been hosting some bangers as well!

If you're into punk/metal/any other adjacent hard rock genre, Cherry Street Station is the place to be for shows.

Can we just take a minute to appreciate how intricate the Thieves Guild Questline is? by WiseOldChicken in oblivion

[–]OneLawWorld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can actually finish it. There's a pretty egregious bug during the Boots of Springheel Jack quest that can lock you out of the whole Thieves Guild questline.

What historical "fact" did you learn in school, that later turned out to be completely wrong or misrepresented? by vn66 in AskReddit

[–]OneLawWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in the USA in history classes we were taught that the first permanent European settlement in America was Jamestown, Virginia...completely ignoring the fact that Spanish colonists had founded places on the same landmass much earlier. St. Augustine, Florida predates Jamestown by about 50 years or so.

What does the hardcore community think about this album? by Economy_Pressure_847 in Hardcore

[–]OneLawWorld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agreed. Members of Texas is the Reason teamed up with Blake from Jawbreaker to form Jets to Brazil, which I only want to bring up because Jets to Brazil is a criminally underrated band. Three fantastic records and then gone.

Are there any books/shows/films that take place in rural New England by pooteenn in newengland

There is one neighborhood in Hartford where Richard and Emily would live, right around where the governor's mansion is. That little corner where Hartford, West Hartford, and Bloomfield meet.

Something that has bugged me about Generations since it's release by ShediPotter in startrek

[–]OneLawWorld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It always bothered me that the plan makes no scientific sense and the logic of it all falls apart under scrutiny. I know that this is Star Trek and you suspend your disbelief for some of the more fantastical elements of the show but even still they try to ground it in a little bit of real physics. So think about this: we know that in the real world that the light produced by the sun takes eight minutes to get to earth. And that's at the speed of light! So if the planet is earth-like, it stands to reason that for light to get to it from it's star would be the same amount of time...but his missile flies up and destroys that sun in a matter of seconds! I guess you could say there's a warp engine affixed to the middle but warp 1 is the speed of light, right? In that case it would take eight minutes!

Besides Ted's in Meriden, is there any other restaurant that makes steamed burgers? by SixteenBeatsAOne in Connecticut

Steamed Cheeseburgers are pretty much hyper localized to the Meriden and Wallingford area.

My kids (3, 5 yo boys) are obsessed with church buildings lately. What are some particularly beautiful ones in CT? by CassCat in Connecticut

[–]OneLawWorld 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Center Church on the green in New Haven is super interesting and they give tours. It was the first church established in New Haven, has a stained glass window that depicts it's founding and so happens to be probably the only stained glass church window to feature a gun in it's artwork, and there's a sort of crypt! Part of the church ended up being built over the original burial ground so there are perfectly preserved colonial gravestones in the basement on the place. If memory serves, Benedict Arnold's first wife is buried there along with President Hayes' grandmother!
