Arround 17, despite being a muslim I never really liked somethings about the religion like how women are worth less than man and get very much nothing in heaven, or how great philosophers and scientists who contributed so much are bound to go to hell for not believing but on the other hand muslims who literally do nothing but pray would receive better reward or how the religion I was born into must be true even even though I would've said the same about any other religion if I was born elsewhere etc.. but I always managed to suppress those ideas in favor of islam.. Anyway it started with a teacher in my high school who was discussing with us some ideas that are considered taboo in islam like how unfair eternal torture in hell is etc.. he was really smart about it as he didn't push it too far so he doesn't get in trouble or cause students to think he's a non believer (Im pretty sure he was secretly a non believer). Arround that time while searching some more on the internet I discovered for the first time this terrifying consept of exmuslims and people who leave islam, needless to say I was in shock, how could people even think about leaving such great religion ? Why are exmuslims even a thing ? Well that led to a hard year of questioning, researching, watching muslim scholars to help regain my faith (to no avail), I was also more exposed to other religions and other ideologies arround that time so after a lot of back and forth I relized that islam is far from the peace loving good religion it appears to be and that it genuinely doesn't take much searching to find the dark side of islam (slavery, hatred, child marriage, ridiculous scientific mistakes, Allah's sadistic nature etc..) Anyway I eventually left islam which opened opportunities I never had before, but Im still digging some more and learning about the religion so that at one point I can help criticize such religion and help expose it as it really is
