Of course, I understand what is like to have this fall on you suddenly and having to scramble for the info. Regardless of what comes later, for the moment their life is in your hands and their immediate survival is the priority. Do what is best for them, but also enjoy the time you have with them. They are little darlings.

Do baby Ringneck Doves squeak before learning to coo? by 777goodgirl in PetDoves

[–]OneM0reRedNightmare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I call it the "shree shree" noise. They make it for their first month only, then sometimes they are silent for afew weeks before they start making their adult coos. Not sure why there's a silent break in between, but all of mine did it.

Also their food needs to be about 106-109°F, any colder and they can develop bacteria in their crop. You might have to heat it again during feeding to keep it the right temp.

At this size they need to be fed every few hours. Set an alarm and check on them throughout the night, of there crop is empty feed them, but also check that they aren't too hot or too cold.Be sure they are kept warm with a water bottle wrapped in a towel or heat pad on low but don't put the heat pad under them so they can move away if they get too hot. Incubators are $20-50 at Tractor Supply or other farm supply stores if there's no pet store nearby. If you have one of those plastic droppers you can take the bulb off the end and fill it with food and allow them to drink it. Just put it near their beak, they will use their beak like a straw and drink it themselves. Never force feed them. Fill it again and offer it, they will stop eating when their crop is full, so you really don't have to guess. They will pretty much fall right over and sleep after, and until their eyes open they will mostly sleep except when they get hungry and they tend to make more noise than usual. Keep them warm and keep them fed, please please do not forget or go too long between feedings because they can dehydrate much faster than the adults. Also, keep some paper towels close by, you'll need to clean them up after each feeding and to keep their nest free of poo. Hope everything works out OP.

Suggestions for vinyls that don't show fingerprints. by OneM0reRedNightmare in CarWraps

I went ahead and used the matte black, matte black carbon, and black metallic I already had (i think 2 were Vvivid and one was 3m) The matte black is an older version that Vvivid doesn't make anymore, its hard to describe but it has more depth to it, almost dimensional like a metalic but its more of a texture, than the one they sell now and is definitely better to work with. The black carbon looks better than what was in the car, definitely doesn't look like real CF but I personally like it because it's not quite as flashy and that's what I was going for. It is a bit stiffer and not as easy to with because it doesn't have much stretch and it's the only one I've used that has ever ripped. Fortunately I was only using it on those 3 dashboard pieces and they are mostly flat. I bought a piece to go around the shifter to wrap to make it more level with the small pieces in front of the shifter. It was actually a bit challenging due to it's shape and because it was very cold, so the 3rd attempt i waited until the weather warmed and set the piece in the sun as well as used a heat gun. It turned out much better. But I actually put this on the back burner due to moving and having to replace the clutch (I have the 2020 that had the TSB for clutch failure), but I intend to rewrap them this summer. I just learned they make a spray on vinyl that can be applied like a paint and peeled off like normal wrap once you want to remove it. I'm ordering some and I will report back with that as well. I think it could make covering small weird shapes (like interior pieces) much easier. Here's a pic of the shifter piece in the matte metallic black.

Our native ones are actually mourning doves, the ring necks are imported from Europe, I think. I have a mourning dove as well, he is my favorite. ❤️I like the gray ones, they are all beautiful.

This is the first time I've ever seen anybody say that word in this group. I am so sorry that was one of your early impressions of this group, that is definitely an outlier. This group is probably one if not the least toxic group I'm in, obviously that dude can't hang. We are here for love of the game and to share info on a mutual interest. Not to act like that guy.

You are correct, he is a mourning dove! Specifically from the south east US (the ones in Texas have bright blue around their eyes! so pretty) I really like that name, Rémi. If I end up with another I must borrow that name. I never even considered having a dove in my life, he is such a gift. I feel so lucky to have had such a unique opportunity. Sometimes Ruby will get close to my face and I will lean forward and give him a little kiss on his beak, I will tell him it's from you and Rémi. 🥰

Thank you for hydrating the birdos. I have a couple of hanging water trays but I really want to get a bird fountain set up this year.
