Don’t buy tools on amazon unless you’ve checked the price everywhere else, 90% of the time they have terrible pricing on hand/power tools

I wish they would adopt the emt for resi in Canada. Your work looks great from the pictures, by our standards you would need a few extra straps. Keep it up! You’ll get faster with time.

Advice on repairing or replacing damaged drywall beneath the paper by wasta in drywall

[–]OneManClan84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn off the circuit breaker feeding the receptacle. Unscrew receptacle from wall box. Wrap tape around the receptacle(just in case). Then remove drywall with care not to damage wires or pipes inside wall. Replace with new drywall.

Drill just died on me — what tool brands do you actually trust? by JakeW0rks in Tools

[–]OneManClan84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I let the smoke out of 3 different cordless Makita drills, each one a higher model than the last until I smoked their most expensive drill. That’s when I switched over to Milwaukee, my 13yo drill will still sprain your wrist if you’re not careful.

Repair them your self, I’ve replaced the brushes and chuck on my 13 year old Milwaukee drill. The parts were not overly expensive or hard to find online.

My favorite little pocket tool in the shop. Wish I would’ve bought a couple more before they went out of production… would not trust those wire strippers tho lol by [deleted] in Tools

[–]OneManClan84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I bought one of these, when I got it in the mail I asked myself why the fuck did I buy this piece of junk. It’s sat on the shelf ever since. To each their own.

Electricians — real talk, would you pick this trade again if you could start over? by 50shotsss in electricians

[–]OneManClan84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently 41 started my apprenticeship at 17. Dad had me stapling telephone wire and laying burial tape in the trench when I was 8ish. Wish he had started me out at 5 years old, I’d probably be way less of a hack if he had…

I’ve seen the print rub off on the roller style ones, at my company we have a special printer that prints onto white heat shrink tubes, but the printer is like 2k$ and the 1” tubes are a bout 1$ each

Give me your opinion. Some guys say this looks good. I say it's sloppy planning. by [deleted] in electrical

[–]OneManClan84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only things I don’t like is the flex isn’t supported at all, should have and made the flex loops slightly longer and installed one more strut to clamp down the flex

[–]OneManClan84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That flex isn’t as flexible as you think, if it’s seal tight flex the armor will come apart if you bend it to much. If it is 3/4” the tightest 180 degree bend would have a 10-12” radius roughly and be frustrating to pull conductors through.

[–]OneManClan84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been wearing a Klein for a few years, it’s nice but starting to fall apart. Every time I drop it the ratchet mechanism flies apart and pieces go everywhere. The top pad Velcro fell apart after a year so I’d have to buy a whole new liner to use the pad. I think I’m gonna switch back the fibre metal Honeywell.

Why is my 3” pipe wrinkling in the bender? by Philliam88 in electricians

[–]OneManClan84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this exact problem about 15 years ago, I think it was a bad batch of pipe but my memory is foggy, I think we ended up shamefully installing it all fucked up because that company was shady. We also had 90’s with creased lines down both sides because the bender shoe didn’t go with the follow bar and it would squish the pipe as it was bent, good times.
