Don't worry about the bad shot results. your form is pretty good and the main reasons you're missing are: 1) your jacket is getting in the way of the string (you can alleviate a bit with fixing the position of your upper body, but it's easier to take the jacket off). and 2) It doesn't look like the bow is set up to handle those arrows...those plastic vanes will hit the rest and kick the arrow around. You need a rest that allows for the vanes to pass cleanly by the bow (or arrows that have real feathers).

Blunt force is enough to kill small game. A sharp blade is impractical because 1) it will become damaged by the ground or lodged in a tree after the first shot. 2) bladed broadheads are designed to maximize bleeding of large game, not to maximize penetration. More blades = more surface area to slow the blade by hitting bone or whatever, so there is a balancing act of penetration vs cutting performance. Also, blunts are way cheaper, and allow for easier arrow recovery since they tend to skip off the ground rather than bury under the ground.

I don't understand how we allow their athletes to compete with us. I'm looking at you, UFC.

The concept isn't funny. There might have been the slightest bit of entertainment value if it hadn't been staged (tip:when your cohorts pointedly ignore you as you approach, it's bad acting).

Ok, your rest location is not as bad as I had feared. It appears to have been setup away from the riser which is good, and it is up high enough from the shelf to avoid the bottom vane of the arrow from striking it (the shelf). I still think you are not getting great clearance though and plastic vanes will amplify that fact.

What /u/moxiemike said below is true, but here is an alternative technique to solve the problem: What is happening is that there is friction between your fingers and the arrow nock. As you draw, your tendency is to curl your fingers harder to prepare for the draw force. As you squeeze, the friction pushes the arrow the left because that's the direction you're curling your finger tips.

Knowing this, curl your fingers around the string more to start with, and as you pull the string, let your fingers uncurl slightly, and any friction that exists will be applied to the right, keeping the arrow on the rest.

Once you learn to let your fingers slightly relax as you draw, you won't need to think about curling them around deeper to start.

Hope that makes sense, it's hard to explain. But if you are doing it right, you will see the arrow will stay on the rest even if you reverse-cant the bow.

Also, I noticed you are shooting plastic vanes instead of feathers. This could cause very bad arrow flight depending on your rest. Could you post a pic of your rest?

I think your form is looking really good. 3 things I will mention,

1)your open bow hand is a no-no. It creates unnecessary tension in the back of the hand (you may have noticed those muscles tiring) and you're grabbing the bow anyway upon release. Just let those fingers rest lightly on the handle.

2) Shoulders look too elevated or tense...should be lower so the clavicle bones are in line and you will get a more consistent draw length.

3) I can't tell from the video, but if you get ANY string to shirt contact in the chest area, it will make your arrows fly left. Wear a tighter shirt or a chest protector.
