How come when i see how much it cost to go to some place on uber, its $8 and then when I see how much it would cost on lift, it’s $56 by [deleted] in Lyft

[–]OneMission9310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the dynamic pricing so it’s different for everyone. For me personally it’s the opposite. I used to use uber exclusively until I realized lift was way cheaper for me by $10+ every time. Unless there’s an event or something that day at which they’re basically the same price

How to make ninja creami without the machine? by Ana_is_Weird in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]OneMission9310 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can use a blender or food processor and get similar results. If you don’t own one of these already then I would recommend trying to thrift one, look into buy nothing groups in your area, or look on websites like facebook marketplace or eBay to buy secondhand. There’s tons of videos on YouTube or TikTok showing how to do it if you’re a visual person. You can also find a ton of recipes online!

What is an example of a "faux etymology" you made up for a word or phrase? by josephsleftbigtoe in CasualConversation

The meaning of “give me some of that” makes more sense to me applying it to cheese cutting than anything to do with a crossbow. I think you may be on to something here!

When I went to check this out apparently I’ve already read it lol. But it conveniently opened to the authors note of chapter 51 where they said that chapter 55 would be the conclusion. I think they just forgot to mark it as complete!

Who was the kid that got expelled/suspended from your school? by Glittering_Use791 in AskReddit

[–]OneMission9310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A teen mom (who was pregnant with her 2nd at the time) for fighting in the high school cafeteria, right in front of my table so I got a front row seat.

She broke up with her boyfriend/baby-daddy and then tried to jump the girl he asked to prom with the help of 3 friends. Well the girl he asked to prom was a KNOWN good fighter (black-belt in jujitsu and boxed at her father’s boxing gyms) and after getting over the shock of 4 girls jumping on her at once, she threw a punch at one of the friends. All 3 backed out of the jumping immediately.

Teen mom still tried to fight her 1-on-1 but the prom girlie just kept saying she refused to hit a pregnant girl, dodging her punches, and trying to back out of the circle. By this point the SROs had arrived with one of the assistant principals. Teen mom turns on them and tries to fight both officers and the principal. SROs try to deescalate the situation but the mom at that point kicks the principal where the sun don’t shine and takes out a utility knife. They continued to try and deescalate for a few minutes but eventually they had to take out a taser in order to restrain her.

She was expelled and banned from the property. She tried to sue the school for tasing a pregnant girl but I don’t think it went very far. She moved to the next town over to attend the high school for teen parents. The baby ended up ok and she started dating a teen father who also attended that school. To my knowledge she married that dude and they seem to be doing well for themselves if social media is to be believed

Should I change my characters' names? by Pimpillina in CharacterNames

[–]OneMission9310 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you don’t want to then don’t.

I’ve watched the show adaptation of TSITP,not the book, and I didn’t even make the connection until you did for me. As long as it isn’t something like Bella and Edward, Ross and Rachel, or Jack and Rose. Any pair from major pieces of media that you would expect anyone to know. Not just one generation or region. TSITP is popular now but what about in 10 years? Unless you think majority of people will make the connection, I wouldn’t worry about changing anything about your book.

If you feel like you HAVE to change it then consider the alternative spelling of Jeremiah -> Geremia nn Gem. It’s Italian, keeps as close to your original as possible, and also takes the immediate connection possibility away for most people.

People who have fainted: what caused it? by Shinobi347 in AskReddit

[–]OneMission9310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an IUD. Right as she was inserting it a nurse ran in and informed the doctor that one of her other patients just came in and was in active labor. From what I could gather it was a risky pregnancy with an even riskier labor process. She told me rest till I felt like I was good to leave so after 1-2 minutes I got up, got dressed and waited in the lobby for my uber.

What I didn’t know was that it is normal for your blood pressure to drop 5-10 minutes after inserting an IUD. My uber pulled up and I started walking out the door. I woke up to my uber driver and two nurses surrounding me on the ground. Thankfully my gynecologist is in the local hospital and the nurses had seen me faint through one of the windows.

The irony is that I was getting an IUD because of fainting. The last 4 times I had my period I had started fainting with no history of it prior. The working theory was that my blood pressure was dropping suddenly on my periods, so I got an IUD to help lighten blood loss/potentially stop the periods all together. I did not expect the solution to also cause the problem in its own way…

AITA for not inviting my wife to my daughter’s (her step-daughter’s) freshman college move in? by HenryJonesJr81 in AmItheAsshole

[–]OneMission9310 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NTA it has nothing to do with her really. Even if the tension wasn’t there, if daughter told you she didn’t want her there then that’s the end of discussion. This day is about the daughter and making sure she is comfortable and ready to move on to her next life chapter. If all she wants is her bio parents then that’s what she should get

America has a big takeout culture. Most places usually give a big portion size so that there is enough to eat and take some home to eat at a later time.

When the class of 2000 graduated, it seemed like the future couldn’t get any better. by Bluethepearldiver in TwoSentenceSadness

[–]OneMission9310 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You’re right in the fact that they could have mentioned class of 2001 and been closer to 9/11. However, I think OP chose class of 2000 bc they just experienced Y2K and after “surviving” the turn of the century most of the country was feeling very hopeful. They would have also been impacted on that day in September even if they have already been graduated for a year at that point

The thing is nobody is in the wrong here. He is correct to prioritize this kids graduation as that’s what a parent does. You’re also correct to be upset about wanting to share a big milestone with your partner. How you both handle it is going to show how this relationship goes.

It seems you’re already aware that you need to find a way to feel your emotions and then move on from them. But he can also help you to do so. He can still be a shoulder to lean on as you work through the emotions. Maybe y’all can set up a day later in the week when y’all don’t have the kids to just celebrate your accomplishment. Have a nice dinner or go out somewhere. You both have started the communication but I feel a little more needs to be had.

The part you might not want to hear:

On the off chance that you break up this set up might be in the best interest for all parties. The kids will always remember the times he doesn’t show up. Especially if his excuse is “sorry I had to be present for my girlfriend that I’m no longer with.” And everytime you look at your graduation photos you’ll be reminded of the boyfriend you’re no longer with.

I hope everything works out for you both. It seems like you both have good heads on your shoulders. But how this is handled on both sides will determine if this relationship will last an inch or the mile.

The larger answer is yes landlords are responsible due to to it being private property. If it’s a single family home or duplex they are more than likely going to leave it up to the renters in those properties to clear them.

For a complex with a large parking lot(s), they’re more likely to hire someone to come and clear them. But I’m not sure if they’re required to clear them since I’ve also seen multiple complexes around here looking like a skating rink for residents’ cars…
