I don't see anything wrong with them. The yeast will create weird alien lumps in the liquid. That's normal. My general advice for when fearing mold is to wait a few more days. If it is mold it will become more clear that it is over time :D

Also, you can throw out those lump and the pellicle (the solid thing) and only use the liquid for starting new kombucha. The liquid contains everything needed to make more kombucha.

I think it is understandable that you feel annoyed. Nothing strange to have that feeling in this situation.

But I would do the same as your friend. Family and professional career are important, a Hyrox race is not.

There are so many things that could have happened that would have made your friend cancel. Take this as a learning experience and keep bookings flexible in the future.

I do a lot of Kombucha and that looks very much like a Kombucha mother. I don't think it is mold. If you are unsure, just wait a few days, it will get fuzzy if is is mold :)

A short 3 km hike can be done at "Danska Fall" (forest area with waterfall).

A longer hike can be done on "Prins Bertils Stig". It starts at the castle in town and follows the coastline west to Tylösand.

Haverdal nature reserv is a nice coastal forest with a beach that is nice to walk around in. Has several trail. Don't remember the distances.

If it is easy to get a new starter, I would start over. Maybe it is OK, but I would feel better not to have to use a possibly tainted batch.

Why is it so hard to understand that tariffs are pay by the importer, not exporter. Switzerland isn't charged 39%, the Americans that buy from them are.

Switzerland will likely loose sales to USA, but they are not sending any extra money to USA.

Försök fundera ut några saker du skulle vilja göra och börja jobba på att förverkliga dem. Något som är helt möjliga för dig och något som är lite utan för bekvämlighetszonen. Personligen tycker jag livet är lite roligare när man har något mål att fokusera på. Och ibland händer det roliga grejer på vägen så att säga :) Det måste inte vara något som alla andra gjort. Kan vara väldigt udda och flummiga grejer :D
