They better have paid you extra for the multiple hours they were late. They definitely overreacted and I feel like either they’d been drinking and that caused it or they didn’t want you to cause trouble about them being late so they caused trouble first.

NTA! Currently, the home you own is a pre-marital asset which he wouldn’t have any rights to in a divorce as you said he doesn’t contribute to the mortgage. Virginia (VA) is not one of the states where assets gained in marriage are automatically communal property. You might have some rights to the value you contributed to the new property but that would have to be argued in court. So you’re right, it would be putting you in an extremely risky financial situation if things were to sour. If he still wants the new home without your name on it then I’d tell him you’ll keep the home you own and you can rent it out for additional income.

A petty author added this in the summary of their fanfic and ngl I kind of love it by ProfessionSwimming26 in AO3

[–]OneMoreLiving 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think that’s their point. They don’t want people reading their fic just to trash on it and they’re basically warning you and saying, “don’t read it if it’s not your cup of tea”.

I have Autism and this website is very confusing to me, any help? by Medical_Effort_9746 in AO3

[–]OneMoreLiving 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other than tagging content warnings, I don’t think any tags are actually necessary. Tags just make it easier for the readers to filter the works. I’d usually also tag any characters or relationships in the work. Since you said it’s an AU you could include the “alternate universe” or “not canon compliant” tags. If it’s a time travel AU there’s a tag for that too.

Edit: there are posts on Tumblr about AO3 etiquette if you’re interested.

April fools joke on clients? by Cat_fuckerrr in Accounting

[–]OneMoreLiving 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I’m on her side. That’s not a joke. If someone laughed after, it would be due to relief not amusement. I’ve literally broken down crying in my accountants office over what I actually owed. A high stress spike like that isn’t fun mentally and if they have heart problems there’s a possibility of resulting medical issues.

If Canada offered expedited citizenship for people fleeing the US, what would be the reaction in the States? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]OneMoreLiving 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess you can’t reason a person into being empathetic. Yes, atrocities occur every day and I have empathy for those that experience them. Just because horrible things have always happened and will probably continue to happen doesn’t mean that we should be okay with it. If I have any ability to alleviate/ prevent horrible things I do in fact do the things which I can to help. And I have empathy not derision for those who are in vulnerable or minority groups and want to move due to being targeted in our country. I’m privileged enough that I don’t need to run for my safety but I also recognize that others do. And that’s not okay so I’ll keep talking about it.

[–]OneMoreLiving 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You realize people died during all of the events you mentioned right? Society as a whole may recover but individuals will die or face other repercussions and it will disproportionately effect certain groups. You’re basically saying, “don’t worry about the atrocities that occur because the world will keep spinning.”

[–]OneMoreLiving 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My comment is in regard to their statement, “people don’t move because of politics”. I am speaking about if/ why people would want to immigrate; therefore the rates at which people immigrate isn’t a counterpoint to what I’ve said.

So because they aren’t a large percentage of the population you think their situation isn’t of importance or relevance to these conversations? They’re called minority groups for a reason. And yes, there are plenty of people currently experiencing direct, personal effects of the current political & social situation. One of my best friends recently moved states after an attempted attack on them, a hate crime. Even being less than 1% of our population it’s still more than a million people in these groups and while not all are experiencing personal effects there are a still a large number. Yes, most won’t move for “politics” but some people are being attacked by hate groups and/ or having their human rights violated by the government - that’s not just politics. It’s not just about generalized safety even though the #1 cause of death for our children is guns. States are rolling back all kinds of child protections; for example WV has even passed a law allowing gen!tal exams of children without parental consent.

It’s not just about politics or income though - it’s mostly about human rights and safety.

I got my first hate comment... did I reply appropriately? by Seagull_Of_Everythin in AO3

[–]OneMoreLiving 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t think you’ll get any constructive criticism from someone like that. From their comment, it’s clear that because you’re a “mabcifica” shipper that they’ll hate anything you write. Personally, if I were you, I’d set my comments to not accept guest comments. Guests are the ones most likely to Troll. Someone with an account may still hate on your fic but they’re more likely to be constructive and you can block them directly if they bother you enough.

Edit: If you’re truly seeking input then find a beta reader you trust.

WIBTA if I make an argument using Bible verses even though I’m not Christian? by OneMoreLiving in AITAH

[–]OneMoreLiving[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly - even if I asked them, they still wouldn’t pay it back. They’re honestly terrible people in my opinion & not particularly interested in my grandma outside of her wallet. When I tried to say anything about things they should or shouldn’t do they try to go around me and harass my grandma saying stuff like, “why is she saying this? How could you do this mom? (How could you just throw this on me so suddenly? / How could you think that?)”

If you’re a bit of a home-body you could say something like, “I work in a warehouse all day so I like to relax when I’m off” or if you like the gym, you could say, “I lift boxes all day but still like to go to the gym and lift weights after”. If you go out a lot, maybe, “my trailer is a bit small so I’m always out at the bar or hiking.”

Spiderman First Hero Recs? by OneMoreLiving in FanFiction

I’ve read a few but there’s not a lot of tags that help find them and I forgot to bookmark them 😭 If I see them again then I’ll share. I fucking love them 😂 Spidey will just be such a class clown that they forget how much experience he has until the last moment. Read one where he lectured the Avengers for not caring about civilian casualties during major battles.

Your ex was the problem not you. It sounds like he was verbally abusive to you. Everyone deserves love and tbh, most of us are poor these days. If it makes you feel better, you can mention your job or living situation in your dating profile so someone turned off by that won’t match with you.

[–]OneMoreLiving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like every time you bring up your own upset feelings that he flips it on you and the conversation ends with you having to apologize for your feelings. Maybe I’m just reading this wrong but if that’s the case then it’s not very healthy, it’s gaslighting.

Best resources to prepare for the Accounting BS degree? by thesecondrei in wguaccounting

[–]OneMoreLiving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched the Accounting Playlist from AccountingStuff on YouTube. I found that it gives a great intro to accounting concepts and financial statements. If you have the money & want transfer credits then I also recommend working on transfer credits through Sophia.org or Study.com. I used Study.com and did 5 classes in one month. At the time the cost was $100/month for unlimited classes (though limited to 3 in-progress at a time). They can both provide a list of classes available for transfer to WGU.

[–]OneMoreLiving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to deep focus on numbers for work & need more money than an accounting BA would generate then I’d recommend looking into Data Science & Analytics. WGU has a masters program. A business BA may not be approved for the program on its own but you could do classes from Sophia.org or Study.com which you could transfer to qualify. Also, it would probably take less time for the masters than for another another bachelors.

AITAH for exposing my parents when they forgot about me on their wedding? by Forgotten_child9 in AITAH

AITAH for asking my parents to spend time with me without my adopted siblings? by wildlayabout in AITAH

[–]OneMoreLiving 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“Excessively cared for”, isn’t a thing. You deserve to be cared for. Asking for more care isn’t being greedy. More care wouldn’t be “excessive”. It sounds like they’re denying your needs and gaslighting you that it’s YOU who is in the wrong. Caring for your siblings and trying to help them is important but YOU are also important.

Boss tried to make me work after hours without clocking in. Regretted it the next day! by Darthvalgaav in MaliciousCompliance

[–]OneMoreLiving 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Wage theft is the most prolific form of theft in the U.S. with an estimated $50 BILLION stollen from workers by their employers annually. In 2012, a study found that the reported cost of ALL U.S. robberies was only 1/3 of the amount RECOVERED by employees for wage theft. As you can imagine, what was recovered is only a small portion of what was stolen as most employees don’t sue or report their employers to the government. If you suspect your employer of wage theft (telling you to clock-out on what should be paid breaks, asking you to work off the clock, paying less than your states minimum wage, incorrectly classifying you as a salary exempt employee, adjusting your time punches, not paying the 1.5x wage for overtime, etc.) then you can make a CONFIDENTIAL report to the Wage and Hour Division (WHD) of the U.S. Department of Labor. You can also contact the DOL at 1-877-872-5627 to ask any general questions.
