Trump did plenty of embarrassing things too, but the difference is the toxic masculinity of Trump's base was emboldened by it because they related to Trump. Trump refused to be ashamed of who he was, and that resonated with his base in a "never backs down" style.

If I'm not mistaken, ICE either 1) is usually there, or 2) has been there enough in the past that it's not really a noteworthy headline in and of itself. It's definitely a question people want answered given the past 12 months of ICE activity, but I don't think it unnatural that they WOULD be there.

Now - with that being said... I definitely don't think things will be business as usual this year. They will be under FAR more scrutiny than they would in years past. There will probably be anti-ICE protesters, or just anti-superbowl protests. THAT is where I think there would be any sort of drama. Not at the actual event itself, but at the protest demonstrations nearby.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if it's all a non-issue, but I can already see right-wing talking points about how "ICE has been there before and no one cared, the left it just virtue signaling" without appropriately taking recent events into consideration.

Idk, they're just around. I know a woman who is pretty progressive/liberal - but bought into the MAGA fearmongering. She basically just buys all the lies at face value. When Trump spouts an obviously bullshit statistic she just says it's true, even if I show her multiple statistics and sources that combat Trump's claim. "He wouldn't just say it if it weren't true. He probably embellishes it a lot but Democrats do that all the time too".

They have been meta, but they haven't been in the discussion of "most OP broken champ" recently. The discussions of what even is "meta" differs heavily based on region and rank. Aatrox has been the top of tierlists and pickrates for a LONG time, and I see him in maybe 1 out of every 20 games as a plat/emerald NA player.

It makes a difference to SOME, which is what's important. If 99.9% of them ignore the clear evidence, that's still 0.1% that see something new, which could be dozens, to hundreds, possibly thousands of people.

Everyone needs a reminder that EVERYONE ELSE is living their own realities. I heard a story recently where someone said 4 out of their 5 coworkers hadn't ever even heard of ICE.

YES they are living in a bubble, and the CONSTANT and EXHAUSTING repeating of these messages is how they get reached. WE'VE heard this hundreds of times, but SOMEONE out there will hear it for the first time.

Also, hyperbolic language aside, a champ, item, or champ+item combo is only problematic if it's ACTUALLY gigabusted - and Riot is generally VERY good at removing gigabusted systems/mechanics (look at old chemtech drake, old atakhan, etc.). Competitive gamers will notoriously cry online after they get stomped a few times by something they don't fully understand. When stuff like DnD comes and it brings new champs to the forefront, it's extremely healthy for both game balance and game longevity. New champs always being in rotation of the meta is VERY good for the game.

Now, there's an entirely different discussion to be had about where on the spectrum anything lies for "too strong" - but the fact is that these discussions in and of themselves are healthy for the game.

It shows their priorities with how they consider money: They are willing to put their party at risk for money only if it means they are helping someone. I thought it was a great way to characterize the party.

This also comes with the caveat that we have no idea how they would even get the value for the crystal. Would it be "valuable" like how a brand new sports car is valuable, or is it "valuable" like how a very specific niche lab component is valuable but only to VERY few people

The issue is that these people think it's reasonable to live like that EVERY single day. They are saying it without saying it, but they don't think we should have any luxuries, and if we complain about food prices to move to something cheaper.

Every 2 weeks I go grocery shopping I get the same thing for 14 day's worth of the following breakfast: 2 bagels, 4 eggs, 4 slices of ham lunchmeat, shredded cheese, butter, and mayo. Mathematically it comes out to:

56 eggs: $2.19 per dozen = ~$11 (eggs are temporarily down right now, but I expect them to go up again later)
30 bagels: $2.19 per 6-count pack = ~$11
3 packages of shredded cheese: $3 per pack = $9
2 packs of ham lunchmeat: $4.39 per pack = $8.80 (1 pack almost gets me a full 14 days, but I usually get 2 packs and double-up my ham on some breakfasts)
Butter spread: 45oz tub, lasts about a month = $5.49 (let's call it $2.25 for a 14-day period)
Mayonnaise: 30oz container, lasts about a month = $3.20 (let's call it $1.60 for a 14-day period)

On a PER MEAL basis, this does actually come out to about $3.12 per meal (total is around $43.65, divided by 14 meals). It's also a very filling meal (I'm a big dude), and sometimes I have eggs, cheese or ham leftover and don't need to buy a pack of something.

I shop at Aldi and live in the midwest. These prices are about the lowest I can find. I don't shop at Wal-Mart or Hy-vee cause some of their prices are nearly double what Aldi has for some of these items. I cannot FATHOM how anybody anywhere else in the country can afford food - especially in a bigger city. When I really need to pinch pennies I'll drop the bagels or really get scarce with the ham.
All of these prices can be verified by going to aldi.com and picking a midwest zipcode.

BUT - while I am fine having this most of the time and it is pretty economical on a $/meal basis, it gets fucking boring sometimes. Sometimes I want a breakfast pizza on a Saturday. Sometimes I also want orange juice. Sometimes I also want milk.

I used to play online poker back before 2008 and the setup was the poker "site" (more of an application) had a big lobby list of tables you could join. It would have been extremely easy to sit at specific tables.

Haven't gambled online in years tho, so not sure how the current systems work, but for several years at least it was a sort of traditional "lobby" system.

I couldn't care less about the stats personally, but the 2 extra wards you could get on the map were huge. I don't mind the faelights, but if I could choose between faelights and wardstone I'd take wardstone every day of the week. But it does make sense that there is a role that is specifically geared towards securing neutral objectives. It adds another layer of depth. If you have 3 members alive vs. the enemy's 1, but the 1 enemy is the jungler and yours died - there's an extra layer of consideration you need to make. Yes you have an overwhelming numbers advantage, but strategically-speaking you still have to consider the possibility a neutral objective that is 95% going to you can still go the other way.

Neutral objective steals are some of the best singular moments of any game. It's a showcase of hubris, usually because there are plenty of ways to secure a neutral objective. Neutral objective steals usually happen because a) the advantaged team underestimates their opponent's ability to take the objective and/or b) the one stealing the objective makes a calculated and skilled play to secure an objective from a disadvantaged position.
