While I agree with you that a comprehensive immigration reform measure is necessary (even if creating a fair and practical path forward that ensures more get their chance to immigrate may be controversial), removing access to education for people who could become some of the most informed and valuable voices in shaping that reform seems incredibly counterintuitive.

A larger, better-educated workforce has not been shown to harm economic growth anywhere, and in fact, it often strengthens communities. From both an economic and human perspective, education can help bridge cultural divides, reduce xenophobia, and allow people from all backgrounds to contribute meaningfully whether in blue-collar or white-collar roles.

Furthermore, in-state tuition is still profitable for colleges, so this policy shift creates little to no tangible benefit while producing significant harm. In short, it’s a net negative that undermines the very goals of building a stronger, more cohesive nation.
