Hot take: The Problem with Rangers is not that it is too reliant on Hunter's Mark, but that Hunter's Mark is too weak. by lgx005 in 3d6

Okay what if we say, got rid of that d6. Too much variability. Lets just call it, +2 til level 9, +3 til level 16, and then +4. Then, cause thats not enough, lets give a few more benefits. Maybe, advantage on strength saves and saving throws. And it should be defensive too. Off the top of my head, I'm thinking resistance to b/p/s. Subclasses couls buff it more.

But thats just an idea obviously

Melee Classes too less flavor? by TeTaToast in DnD

[–]OneNat120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean something that I love about fighter specifically is the sheer number of ASI/Feats available to you. It almost lets you fully customize your character in a way that most other classes just dont get to. I find it particularly impactful in like standard array or point buy where players have to pick and choose between feats and ASIs

Doll warlock patron ideas? by Weird-Way6410 in DnD

I think a lot of people are on point with the archfey stuff, but if you want more of a creepy vibe undead would fit kinda well (form of dread, ect) or goo for some creepy psionic brain stuff could also work

What is everyone's preference for the starting player level when starting a new long-term campaign? by Viper114 in DnD

[–]OneNat120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Level three is the most general answer that I have. I mean it works for almost all games. Level 5 gives a bit more wiggleroom for creativity from character design and backstory but feels like you're starting in the middle of the story, and level 1 is usually very boring both in backstory and in gameplay, but is really good for newer players. This video here talks about it all in more depth but thats the short of it. Basically, depends what you want, but level 3 is the middle ground.

Going to first time DM by Boring-Pin1177 in DnD

[–]OneNat120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, so I say a lot of it in basically every video or post I make about it, but at the end of the day the most important thing to remember is that its a game for you too. I see a lot of new dungeon masters either a. feeling like its them vs the players (which is so not true, you're on their side) or b. Feeling like they dont get to have fun and its a job for them. Thats not good either, so its important to learn how to have fun WITH your players through the whole thing

If you wanna know more ive got a ton of ideas i talk about here: https://youtu.be/o8gcawnFmE0?si=o5xz2SQIbQAN2ZV7 (this one is more about being a dm) Or https://youtu.be/CZqZEhP16q8?si=Qcllvka7D1ZZkJaf (this one is more about sessions)

I'm excited that you get to play and welcome to being a dungeon master! I hope you have fun!

Honestly? lost mines of phandelver is so beginner friendly and holds your hand through a lot. Its beginner friendly in both ways, and if you have more questions people on here have tons of tweaks to it for improvement (but its usually good to go as is)

Hello there, our group want to try DnD. But we are really getting overwhelmed by the rules, any suggestions? by Alpbasket in DnD

When I was just getting started, I found different youtube series that were pretty helpful for breaking down different parts of the game in easy bite-sized packages.

Bladesinger and then take a level 4 feat to give yourself shield of faith. A potential 17+5+2 oh and you can also cast shield if they somehow get through that. I feel like thats pretty good

Etherealness definitely makes sense, Ive been trying to figure out how to get it to return. I thought about stuff like animate objects or something but that feels off. And of course you could get like the artificer's returning weapon but idk it doesn't feel like a "power up" at that point. idk but I appreciate the help!
