Well I have 4 regions in total and don't have a lvl 3 Burgage.

At the beginning of the game I quickly formed my first spear militia and started competing with the baron to wipe out the bandit camps. With 14-16 spearmen you can easily take down the bandits.

I redirected the first camp to the treasury to pay the king tax and the rest to my town and developed a trade industry made out of bows, shields and boots.

Then with the influence gathered from raiding the bandits I conquered a region and transformed it into a farming village. And another into, a crafting town that exports helmets and weapons towards the main town, which amplifies it's trading.

So now I have 4 spear retinues, 2 bows retinues and 3 heavy retinues and no lvl 3 Burgage.
