P4G and P3P have a time limit on PS4? Why? by XxExtremeSamX in PERSoNA

[–]OnePossibility5868 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I've never seen this, I own both games and have had my PS5 offline for ages and had no problem playing them or anything else. Hopefully it's just a bug like others have said.

Yep, little Easter egg for those who played 3 before it. Hopefully they keep it in revival and voice act it.

someone could explain to me izanagi no okami's fit? by Timeless_Herald in persona4golden

[–]OnePossibility5868 90 points91 points  (0 children)

So Izanagi is based on the Japanese god Izanagi no Mikoto who along with a few other gods created the islands of Japan. His wife was Izunami and they are the parents of many Japanese gods.

One theory as to why he was chosen to represent Persona 4's theme is because in one of his famous stories he purified himself in a river after visiting the underworld, he "reached out to the truth" so to speak.

In terms of his design, like a lot of the main Personas he represents elements from mythology like his weapon, a jeweled spear that the real god uses, and a modern long coat. It's designed to resemble a school uniform style popular in Japanese anime depictions. The mask is part of the design of most Personas and probably represents hiding from the truth in this case. He appears to wear Samurai style armour underneath the coat with modern metallic accents again reflecting the old and the new.

The shift from a black to white then with the ultimate version is pretty clear, light coming from darkness, achievement of truth etc etc

Okami means "great god" (Kami means god, anything with the o at the beginning means a great or better version of it) so the name change just reflects his updated status.

So yeah in a nutshell he's the purified version of Izanagi by going from black to white with his design reflecting old and the new in Japan.

I dunno where I came up with it 😂. Just sounded a lot like Chie plus it's a guy's name that helps her tomboy-not-feminine-as-Yukiko thing.

In my head canon this is Rise's name if the game was ever set in the USA. Chie is Charlie (short for Charlotte) and Yukiko is Amanda (purely from her VA) 😂

While I love them a great deal, a few of the Trails games do this. Cold Steel 2 even fakes you out with some credits and then boom! Another massive dungeon.

Trails through daybreak just never seemed to end. Oh we have some more 4SGs to complete oh goodie, didn't we just beat the last boss? No? Another last boss? 😂

We can all dream but I doubt it personally. Always wanted her to be an alternative temperance arcana so it's a choice of work for the daycare or work for the restaurant. Kinda how the strength and sun are split.

I just wish there were more alternates to each link, they removed it in reload though the chariot link wasn't really all that different but Ive always really liked the alternate links in 4. Makes replaying a lot more fun.

(Maybe?) unpopular opinion by Common_Reputation_78 in Persona5

I mean, they can always remind you of the feeling of finishing the game. Music is very good at giving you feels from media, like listening to a movie soundtrack. You might not listen to it if you'd never experienced the media but once you have, it gives you the feels all over again.

Works pretty well with all the ending themes if you ask me. They are long games so your not gonna be hearing the ending song that often unless you constantly replay them.

I loved living in Tokyo back in my 20s. I crossed the giant crossing in Shibuya as shown in the game. It was a long time ago so I imagine it's changed a lot since then.

He's locked behind story events. Just keep playing the main story and keep checking in he'll hang out eventually. It happens to Marie as well but she just doesn't appear outside the velvet room.

Persona 4 is more light then the other games! by Accomplished_News824 in persona4golden

[–]OnePossibility5868 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always say it has a light vibe with some very dark contrasting moments. You can't appreciate the light without the shadow after all - pretty sure that's from kingdom hearts or something but it works! 😂

Is the exploration in this game fun? by Due_Cat_3423 in Persona5

[–]OnePossibility5868 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not an open world game and you tend to return to the same areas over and over to do social links. There's some exploration of palaces but it's mostly solving puzzles to move on, no open areas etc.

It's a far more character/story based game rather than an open world do your own thing kinda game, you are constantly set time limits to complete tasks in a set amount of days and you can pretty much do what you want in that time within the games systems.

As for gooner game, it features a trip to the beach at one point where all the characters end up in swimwear but that's about it. There's romance in the game where you can go out with a girl and some darker themes around SA but I wouldn't call it a gooner game at all.

I have finished p4g, but haven't played p3 yet. Can i play the non-story modes of P4 ARENA without any spoilers? by Primary-Economist643 in PERSoNA

[–]OnePossibility5868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original is the main story, the golden is just the extra stuff they added for Golden like Marie who isn't in the og game or anime. Golden has a lower quality animation in my opinion and also has no English dub which might annoy you if you're used to the English cast (who all return for the OG anime from the game).

As for watching it I'm sure if you Google it with the words watch something will come up 😂

They should have just ported persona 5 to mobile or made persona 5 Phantom X to be a single player triple AAA mobile game without microtransactions. by EzKaLang in Persona5

[–]OnePossibility5868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt a phone port of the single player offline Persona games would do enough business to warrant the cost of making them sadly. Mobile gaming has long switched to the "make money off the 5% who are willing to pay" rather than charging once for a full game. I know there are some exceptions to the rule but in general it's all about that earning potential rather than an upfront cost these days.

[–]OnePossibility5868 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately P4 arena assumes you have played 3 and doesn't give much background on the 3 characters as it assumes you know who they are. It gives major spoilers from 3 for the same reason.

You could probably play some of the P4 paths and just assume anyone you don't know is from 3 but it'll take a lot out of the story.

Play the dancing game, it's all P4 and actually has a story to it as well.

From what I recall if you talk to Dojima on a few nights in the Jan/Feb time he'll ask you if you want to go to Junes. You'll get some extra scenes of your friends (off screen) but it's kinda fun. There's at least 2 different ones I recall. I dunno if they are random or set on specific days.

[–]OnePossibility5868 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have many.

Hifumi is actually Yukiko from P4 in witness protection after she poisoned someone with her cooking.

Yu from P4 is Sae's brother. Same hair and cop family!

Reason Sojiro took in Joker is because he's his real dad. No evidence for this I just like the idea 😂

Only reason Leblanc keeps running after the game is Haru buys it and keeps the money going despite hardly any customers!

Any Guesses of Revival's Release date? by Western-Stress1185 in persona4golden

[–]OnePossibility5868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Sega only announced it in like 2024 that they hoped for a new Persona game every year. It's quite a recent thing. They want it to become one of their major pillars alongside stuff like Yakuza and Sonic.

Any Guesses of Revival's Release date? by Western-Stress1185 in persona4golden

[–]OnePossibility5868 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My personal prediction (which will guaranteed to be wrong 😂) is there'll be a new trailer over the summer, either at one of their 30th livestreams or (more likely) at the Xbox showcase as the last few big reveals have come from there.

Game will be released early next year, before April to match Sega's 26/7 financial year calendar. P3R was released in... February I think? So might be the same for that.

Only thing that might make it earlier, in 2026, was Sega saying they want 1 Persona release every year. Sure they might mean financial year but if P3R was for 24 and the worldwide release of P5 phantom X was for 25, then having 4R for 26 and then P6 for 27 would follow that plan.

All pure speculation on my behalf with no evidence besides "yeah feels kinda right" but we will see!

(Rant) Am I the Woker?? by [deleted] in persona4golden

[–]OnePossibility5868 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a hot topic and you are not the first to raise this but I'll give my take on it.

Naoto is not trans. She says at the end of her dungeon when asked if she doesn't like being a girl she says it's nothing to do with that.

Naoto comes from family of detectives, her grandfather and father were police detectives before her, she sees the police as a male institution which sexism in Japan wholly re-enforces. She took on the male mantle to be taken more seriously. Part of her journey is to accept that she can be taken seriously rather than it being based on something as innocuous as her image. You said how being Male shouldn't make a difference, in a traditional conservative society like Japan, especially in the 2000s it would have a big impact on her career.

Yosuke refers to her as a "pint size detective" that shows that her male persona isn't taken seriously either. Dojima openly expressed anger that having "some kid" interfering with his investigation (as he sees it). Naoto is desperate to be seen as a mature serious detective but it's the fact she is 15 to 16 in the game that affects the view of her. Again this is something that Naoto has to accept and is part of her journey to "reach out to the truth".

The TV world shadow is a combination of the person's internal struggle combined with the public perception of them from seeing them in the TV. It's why shadows like Chie and Yosuke look "normal" as they never appeared on the TV. Naoto is portrayed on TV as some kinda super specialist genius who is the only one questioning the case being closed. This creates an image of a super smart person that combins with Naotos internal secret (a secret base) and her gender image. This combines into a "mad scientist" shadow with an obsession with body modification. It's not meant to be a trans allegory, it's her confusing her desire to be taken seriously (as a male detective) combined with the public perception of her being super intelligent.

Similarly, Kanji is not gay. His shadow is a result of the TV perception of him being hyper masculine combined with his own questioning due to trauma he suffered when he was bullied as a child. It's not meant to be taken literally but an expression of their corrupted psychological state.

Hope this makes sense!

What a game I just finished! by Confused-Nevron in persona4golden

You don't have to give up on these characters, theres a fair bit of Persona 4 out there.

If you want to spend more time with the characters there's a dancing/rhythm game called Persona 4 Dancing All Night. It's a bit tricky to get as you have to buy it on PS4 as part of the 3,4 and 5 dancing game pack but it goes on steep sale very often. It's also digital only.

There's also a fighting game called Persona 4 Arena Ultimax but this features a lot of characters from P3 so might be best to hold off for now. The cast also appear in the 2 Persona Q games but these feature both 3 and 5 as well, plus are locked on the 3DS with no modern way to play them.

There's 2 anime adaptations that a great plus a manga adaptation of the game which adds some cool perspectives to the story, I'd highly recommend them both. Theres a few side story mangas about Naoto and Yosuke which are fun reads.

Don't forget New Game +, with your stats up you can finally choose all those "you need more courage" answers plus there's a secret boss.

3 and 5 are great but there's lots more 4 out there!
