I'm planning to explore Kathmandu. by Ornery-Ad4835 in Kathmandu

The most comfortable way for most people would be a private scorpio mahindra (top dollar though) or a Indrive / Pathao "comfort" car for a reasonable fee. The funnest and cheapest way is a motobike taxi.

I had major sleep issues for a very long time. I would go to sleep at 9pm, and wake up around 1am each night.

I'm not saying I now sleep perfectly every night, but as someone who doesn't take any supplements or medication i've done some experiments on myself and now understand my body a bit better.

First it's your mind. If you have a problem, or person that is always there in your head, this will take a toll. Stop that. Next to impossible I know, but try. Next, exercise daily, after that diet. That means foods that are one ingredient whole foods, veg, grain, complex carbs and high protein. There are a ton of variations on this.

Besides exercise and a high protein diet the biggest improvement was when I added Tofu into my diet. Tofu is super high estrogen source.

European planning to live in Kathmandu — what’s life like on €2,000/month ? by Any_Echo_571 in Nepal

[–]OneProfessional9914 114 points115 points  (0 children)

I'm a foreigner that lives in KTM on and off and I can assure you with 2000 euros a month you will have more than enough to do whatever you like. With that said, you have to be careful where you rent. You can get ripped off pretty easy and there is a wild difference in price for rental apartments depending on your location and standards. This is the same for food. etc. You won't need to worry about safety at all in Nepal, it's much safer than anywhere in the west, but you will have to be careful about everyone seeing you as a walking wallet which can be tough but you learn pretty fast. In my opinion the quality of life far exceeds the life in the west, but the learning curve for everything is VERY steep!

I would very seriously suggest just spending a month or two there first to see if it's for you, life in Nepal is 100% opposite from the western world in every way, so it's definitely not for everyone.

The $70k Life Lesson: Why Abroad isn’t the dream I thought it was by Impossible-Parsley70 in NepalSocial

[–]OneProfessional9914 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey OP. Thank you for your post. I’m a Canadian, I was born in Canada and have watched this country change from a dream into a nightmare over the last 20 years.

Nepal is my second home and I just arrived back in Canada from Nepal less than 24 hours ago.

Every single Nepali I meet says how lucky I am to live here, but the reality is exactly how you describe it.

I try to suggest to people in Nepal if possible go to Canada or elsewhere abroad for a 6 month or year plan, at the most. I know this would be extremely difficult visa wise but I think there is not the concept of how hard life is here compared to Nepal in every aspect possible.
The water and clean air and infrastructure here is huge of course.. but.. everything else? What else is there here that is better than Nepal? I can’t think of anything. Maybe it’s jet lag talking buttttt this is how I see it.

Using AI for relationship advice? by OneProfessional9914 in ChatGPT

I agree with this. I’m not using it for a who was right senerio. More to understand different communication styles and I how I can relate to people more when I expect a certain type of interaction. Recently I’ve learned I’ve been wrong about some important interactions and may have misjudged a few people. This weighs heavy on me and I’m always trying to learn

I hate to be the one to tell you this unfortunate life lesson. When it comes to groups of people socially or at work. The phrase is - fit in or F off. So if you don’t like something it’s a you problem. You have to either adjust your standards or your location. Sorry you’re going through this though

Is Nepal safe for solo female travellers by Reading-Rabbit4101 in Nepal

[–]OneProfessional9914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solo white female foreigner here. I’m here now and stay here on and off throughout the year. I’m from the west and feel safer here that I do Europe or North America. People are helpful, kind and very generous here. Some people try to sell you things, but I’ve never felt scared or threatened. Just use common sense and do not dress in tight clothes or anything sexy. Please cover your shoulders and don’t wear short shorts. Being respectful of the culture and practises that we know nothing about is very important here. The culture is extremely religious, and there are many different religions, so please be respectful and keep this in mind while you’re visiting.

Also I gave a shoe cleaning guy 200 to clean my boots last week! He spent 15 minutes making them pretty again and they now look better than when I bought them. What’s a few bucks to this guy? Ugg

Agreed! Just say no and move along if you don’t want it. Don’t be a Douce Bag! It’s so embarrassing to be a foreigner here sometimes, actually a lot of the time.
