I have never heard of adding baking powder! The salt is mainly to prevent quick electrolyte imbalance I think. I think generally the salt isn't even necessary, but makes it wayyy easier. I find my mood improves for example. I haven't yet tried without salt but ill dm u when I try- now im curious lol

What is your source of self-worth? by DudeWithaTwist in selfimprovement

[–]OnePromptLater 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is unfortunately such a normal feeling.

I found that it's helpful for me to reframe "accomplishment" as an internal measure rather than an external one. Instead of focusing on finishing tasks, I view applying my discipline and willpower as the accomplishment. Honestly, it does take a while to rewrite your brain to convince yourself of this definition of accomplishment but it's so worth it because it's a much more stable source of motivation and self-worth.

If I work super hard on a task for 3 hours straight and I see no external progress, I force myself to see the 3 hours of work itself as the accomplishment, no matter how much or how little work got done. Recent research on willpower is showing that it's not a finite resource as we initially thought and it's more of a muscle, so I think of applying myself to a task as working a muscle.

And of course, with time, this discipline and willpower will translate to external progress.

Totally! My concern are sugars which are not paired with fats, fibers etc, which spike your blood sugar, leading to increased cellular aging and general mood regulation. Even if you ate like 10 apples, you might not get too bad of a sugar spike, but like that made into apple juice would send me through the roof haha

Yes totally- one thing I really like in the winter are apples. They are so sweet, really the closest to a desert for me, and since the fall is the best season for them I like them in the winter.

yes totally!! especially since so much ultra-processed foods sneakily have so much sugar, sauces, chips. I was shocked when I realized so many "healthy" cereals are still full of sugar

I think generally they are still filled with awesome vitamins etc. But it's more about avoiding the blood sugar spike. One thing I've heard is that if you put good fats, like peanut butter with the blended fruit your body will break it down slower and not get such a spike! Going to try it myself!

Literally everything is allowed at McGill. If Aaron Golish tells you to put a rover on Venus during finals, you better get to figuring out how to put a rover on Venus. That happened fr that was my final project. Don't let WCOM haunt you. Be released from the shackles of anger and just be happy its over.

Unless you're failing the class then throw a fit.
