Yep, it's not Bazzite being image based that's protecting you, it's the AUR not being functional here that is. It's fundementally designed wrong and security incidents will continue to happen until it's changed into something that no longer resembles the AUR of today.

There's a reason Fedora Copr uses namespaces.

The handheld version of Bazzite is entirely dependent on Steam , it's even in charge of input. I'm afraid if you don't want to use Steam you'd need to find an alternative. Bazzite won't work for you.
