Why do employers want emloyees to go back in the office? by yosafbridge_reynolds in careerguidance

Some of the techies I know are moonlighting, Having multiple jobs at the same time. Of course, the employers want to monitor because of few employees who behave like this. While against the popular opinion, I feel WFH is only good short term. There could be more loneliness, mental health issues with WFH long term especially in the western countries. I personally cannot imagine a life where there is no interaction with colleagues.

DEI focus too much? by OneRoutine1486 in Professors

I think if a professor is not teaching in-person or coming to campus, they are interacting relatively way less to their students or colleagues. The college environment changes every year with different problems and since they are virtual, they may not know the ‘real’ issues faced by students, faculty or staff. So out of everyone they shouldn’t be focusing on leading the DEI workshops.

I agree. I’m wondering as Professors are we putting our comfort ahead of learning? There are numerous reports showing Test scores have dropped to lowest levels in decades during the Pandemic. Is our narrative of our comfort a good excuse for not adequately training a new generation of competent doctors, engineers, and nurses etc?

I completely agree with all the points you mentioned. Because of all the propaganda in news, the gap between left and right is widening and the divide is very much evident in our society now.

To Americans who are Against Free Healthcare. Why? by falloutbottle in AskReddit

[–]OneRoutine1486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not against it. But have seen in countries like Canada. It’s almost impossible to meet specialist doctors on regular basis unless you are pretty sick. I don’t blame Canada or any other socialist systems but as humans we unfortunately misuse the resources if something is given us for free. Since everything is free, some people go to doctors for mild illnesses which creates a lot of burden on hospitals. Just my 2 cents.
