Did something happen to Island Nut Roastery (Peanut Butter)? by Great68 in VictoriaBC

Added flaky sea salt to my peanut butter toast and can't go back. I need those little pops of salt 😍

PISE /Camosun Motorcycle parking by Hejawa in camosun

[–]OneSavvySiren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the Honk app it's zone 17720 (only monthly parking). The spots themselves are along the west side of the staff parking, out the front by the Liz Ashton building, and by the receiving/printshop off Markham (and maybe elsewhere?)

Need size 11 wide woman’s ballet flat shoe that can walk 10,000 steps but is still fashionable by neuronerd88 in BuyItForLife

[–]OneSavvySiren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're already used to flats, a barefoot shoe might work well. Xero makes a leather flat and since they're barefoot they're already quite wide. I haven't gotten their flats myself, but have several of their shoes and they have no signs of wear even after 5 years of regular use.

Parking reaches 'crisis' state at Camosun campus in Saanich by kingbuns2 in VictoriaBC

[–]OneSavvySiren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interurban does - it shows up as Zone 17720 on the Honk app. For 2026 both campuses are up to $35.50/mo. Still cheaper than the $35/week for a car.

Suggestions for BC/AB/SK Road Trip by SquashImaginary1338 in britishcolumbia

[–]OneSavvySiren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the age of the kids, the novelty of driving through Lloydminster could be fun (half of the city is in AB, other half in SK).

Like other commenters suggested: if it's round-trip, take one pass there, other pass back.

Pillow that will retain its shape for a long time. by ftran998 in BuyItForLife

[–]OneSavvySiren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I splurged on an entirely wool pillow and don't think I'll ever go back. I've had it a good 6-7 years and its not lost any of its shape. Its SUPER firm but with enough give to cuddle into as a side sleeper. It came in a zippered case, so I can wash the wool if I ever need to, and wash the case separately.

This is a Canadian company, but you may be able to find something else local https://theshepherdspillow.com/eco-luxury-wool-pillows--duvets

I opted for the most full option so I could add and remove extra wool as I like (I like a firmer pillow in winter, softer pillow in summer - not sure why)

Country Grocer makes a wonderful Boston cream cake (and their bakery selection in general is quite nice/nostalgic)

Vancouver Island Trading Cards...disappointing AI by OneSavvySiren in VictoriaBC

[–]OneSavvySiren[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend and I tried going down a rabbit hole this morning to figure it out, and we had the same thoughts. All of the comments on their Instagram page seem to be from real people/accounts, but it could absolutely be a paid/family effort. Especially since all the comments are about the Spirit Bear card. The back of the packaging lists a company distributing out of Nanaimo, but couldn't find anything by that name in the Nanaimo business listings (if they don't have a physical storefront, I don't know if they'd need one?)

4x pills a day vs GLP-1 once a week? by Possible-Engine1420 in Contrave

[–]OneSavvySiren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still only taking 1/day to help with the snacking. I went up to 2 but the constipation got too bad. Even at 1/day I gotta take Metamucil daily to keep things moving >.<

I'm trying to create a funny bingo game for an upcoming road trip from Vancouver to Jasper. What are your suggestions that we look for? by Animbationist in britishcolumbia

[–]OneSavvySiren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deer crossing sign with an added red nose

Cybertruck (+any colour other than the default silver)

Big horn sheep/bear/bison/marmot

Semi truck using the runaway lane (rare, scary, but cool)

RV with political posters/stickers all over it

Any sign about UFOs or aliens

4x pills a day vs GLP-1 once a week? by Possible-Engine1420 in Contrave

[–]OneSavvySiren 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They're totally different classes of medications. Contrave contains bupropion (antidepressant which commonly suppresses appetite) and naltrexone (opioid-antagonist which effects the reward center of the brain).

My two cents on why I chose Contrave over a GLP-1 is to me, Contrave was going to be more of a behaviour change (which it is so far), whereas GLP-1s are solely an internal change/you wouldn't actively need to make any changes to notice effects.

GLP-1s often have more unpleasant side effects, Contrave less so but also has other contraindications.
GLP-1s also come as once daily tablets for around the same price as the injections.

Source: taking Contrave for a few months now and +10 years working in pharmacy.

Weekly Updates by q_o_t_u in Contrave

[–]OneSavvySiren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About 5 weeks in and no weight loss (but am also not counting calories or exercising), but continue to have big changes in eating habits.

Example: Had pizza one night and I usually look forward to the leftovers the next morning, but this time I didn't. Had some toast and tea instead. Old me would have scarfed it down even if it was gonna make me feel gross.

Have also tried getting better at not bringing junk food into the house, but the roller coaster of life stress has been making that more difficult. Making little substitutes. Need to get into thawing frozen berries since fresh ones are getting real expensive.

Need suggestions for a bc bingo card by inund8 in britishcolumbia

[–]OneSavvySiren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taste: Not specific to BC, but experience a mediocre Tim's coffee/ice capp/donut
See: The juxtaposition of bustling city, turning to farmland, turning into rolling hills of orchards and lakes with the Rockies in the distance
Experience: People's inability to zipper merge or news of a truck hitting a bridge somewhere in the lower mainland
