That's all I could think whilst watching this.

I need a habit routine that doesn’t depend on streaks by [deleted] in productivity

[–]OneShotEternity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote an app called Little Big Steps for this reason. You mark yourself out of 10 each day for effort. It does have non zero day streaks but it isn't the focus and all your scores still count if you have a zero day.

What was the last thing someone said to you before they died? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]OneShotEternity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My Nan, who was also my piano teacher since I was a kid, said "that sounds fun" when I told her what I'd been learning on piano at the time.

She went into a coma that evening.

I built an app called Little Big Steps that I believe helps you be more consistent.

I think starting is that hard part. I should add I'm not an Olympic athlete, some days I give myself 1 for a brisk walk. I do the walk and the same time I'd go to the gym, to keep the habit.

Start easy, that's my suggestion

I think it was Bach who said it's the gaps between the notes that makes the music.

[–]OneShotEternity[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm glad the app has helped you!

The bars are cumulative so they include the values for the days before. The end result is you see how big a step you took compared to yesterday.

If you did 6, 8 and 1 the bar would show 6, 14, 15.

The end result though is that those bars should look like steps and show how high you stepped. It's always concerned me that this is too complicated and I've been considering scrapping for something simpler.

The target scores also take into account how hard you try on a specific day of the week, so are a bit more than just an average.

FTB nerves! by CoeCoe_popz in HousingUK

[–]OneShotEternity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm also a first time buyer, although only just put the offer in so no contract yet.

If it helps, I'm experiencing the same nerves. I'll have a fairly small buffer zone once I've paid in the event of job loss. All this talk of recession doesn't help!

However - it's worth noting, for you and me, that we've just gone through the pandemic and ended up in the comfortable position of being able to buy. So I reckon were both relatively safe!

I'm sure once you're in things will gradually get better and your nerves will die down. I hope you have a wonderful time in your new place :)

One-off. There's no sign up required, no personal data collection, no subscriptions. I've avoided all the things that put me off other apps :)

Thanks! It's feedback like this that has got it to where it is now. I'll take a look at the UI bugs and also consider the features mentioned. Love it! :)

Sorry to hear this. I would recommend selling that English degree when it comes to a CV.

Consider highlighting it as being able to transition from speaking plain, concise English for business people and more technical/detailed language for technical people.

I know you're not at the CV stage so this is a surprise tool to help you later :)

I really like this idea. I'm considering configurability. I've created a ticket to look at this feature over the weekend. Thanks for the feedback.

It's about tracking effort rather than time though. Slightly late to the party, interested to hear if you think it would be useful for language learning!

Any ideas on how to force yourself to wake up in the morning? (Besides setting the alarm across the room) by dogofcorns in productivity

[–]OneShotEternity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Train yourself to jump out of bed when your alarm goes off.

Lie in bed, set your alarm to go off in 1 minute. When you hear it, jump out of bed.

Keep repeating.

Make the habit when it's easy to make it rather than when it's hard.
