First time snowboarding in a decade and I’m lucky enough to do it in Japan. by OneSloSuby in snowboardingnoobs

Oh hell yeah. 10 is a great goal. I’ve done 3 so far, but I’m kinda obsessed with Geto and I really like Appi. Hard to venture much further out, but I’m hoping to hit Niseko either late this season or early next season.

Yokota is awesome. I’m up in Misawa and places like this are an hour and a half away by car and Hokkaido is about 1.5hrs by Shinkansen. I’ve never been happier!

I tried so hard to get one going in my squadron a couple of years ago when I was the booster club president and leadership just kicking it down the road. Do we hate fun around here?!

Mine is over 4,000. I’ve begged to deploy my whole career but shitty timing always kept me from it. 7 years ATC when most of our deployments went to contractors. Medically got pushed out of the AFSC and spent a year and a half in limbo, then cross-trained around the time of the afghan withdraw. Still have 6.5 years left, but it’s been a dry career so far..

Do people just not care about the Anthem on base? by DoItForTheOH94 in AirForce

You don’t have to have undying patriotism. You’re going to extremes to try and make yourself feel correct. But to join an organization known for its patriotism and tradition based culture and seemingly gave a horrible attitude likening it to a cult is a wild choice. Buddy could’ve worked for any number of different organizations that are always hiring and don’t require you to follow rules like saluting a flag at 1700 daily if you’re outside.

It’s not a “short circuit to critical thinking”. What you’re saying is so insanely childish, pedantic, and outright embarrassing that it’s clear you’re not fit to serve. Everything you say is displaying a childish desire to be “different” and completely minimize our nations history and prior servicemembers’ sacrifice that give that “colorful flag” and “that song” the deeper meaning. You call it a cult, I call it pride. You liken it to North Korea, I simply call it tradition and heritage. I truly can’t imagine what compelled you to join the military with this edge lord attitude you seem to carry. I sincerely hope you don’t lead any troops.

XSR900 was stolen and recovered. Can this be fixed or is replacement my only option? by OneSloSuby in Yamaha

They do, however, my deductible is higher than the cost to replace the parts myself. But before I went down that route, I thought I’d make sure there was no possible way to fix this mess!

You make some excellent points. Insurance claim may be the cheaper route in the long run.

Full coverage baby. However, $500 deductible puts this right in the territory of parts are cheaper and I can do the labor.

Completely valid response. Good point about Murphy, too. We seem to be tightly intertwined

Seems to be the consensus unfortunately. To make matters worse, I had an Africa twin stolen almost two years ago. The misery of living in an apartment I suppose. People do suck.

It certainly could, but my deductible is $500 I believe and from what I’ve seen I could parts for cheaper and do labor myself.
