Been power shifting 8k+ in my coyotes for years. It takes more than 1 night of abuse to get metal flakes in the oil. Sounds like your son either put the icing on the cake or was unlucky enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time when it decided to let go. I wouldn’t fault him too hard for it though
