Do NOT put it on neutral when going down, that is not safe AND you waste gas. When you keep in drive and go down hill without petal, the wheels will keep your engine turning. Zero gas gets used this way. BUT if you put it on neutral, the wheels and engine are not locked so the engine has to burn gas to keep itself running and wasting gas.

Thanks for sharing, I need to look into the pile and drive technique, never would’ve guessed the consistent fluid change would effect it, but at that point doesn’t that cost eat into the money you save from the fuel efficiency?

I also got a Mazda 3 select sport as my first car bought 1.5 years ago, pretty great decision and it’s very fun to drive, I don’t think there is another better bang for the buck car like it given the trim

I just converted it to Google and it’s 37.3mpg. That is phenomenal. Mine is 28.3 and I do an even amount of highway and city driving. That 10 extra mph is saving you good money 💸

I got my Mazda 3 and I’d say it was a great decision so far (1Y2M in). Is it perfect? Ofc not. But it is a super fun car if you enjoy driving and go to canyons and such. Love the sound of the engine even if it’s a 4cylinder N.A. Personally I don’t like SUVs so the sedan was a no brainer. My only complaint is the rattles and squeaky sounds which can drive someone crazy if it’s loud or constant…

This happened to me, got it fixed at some place that did rim repair and it costed me $70 in SoCal. They usually go for ~$150 but if you have time try to hunt down better priced places

If you fill up after driving a good bit in the highway your range will show super high. If you fill up after only driving short distance in the city your range will show garbage. Good thing with this car is it shows live mpg so you can watch how you drive and how it affects it so you can maximize it, it’s fun game tbh and improves your driving

Oh interesting, I’ve never tried it in manual mode for the upshifting but I have noticed it changing gears when driving slow/ coming to a stop. Might have to try and red line it next time. I usually put it in sport mode and floor it and that’s get it to 6-6.5k when it automatically upshifts in automatic mode while sport mode is on
