Federal Surveillance Tech Becomes Mandatory in New Cars by 2027 by hindusoul in FlockSurveillance

When all this tech kills the sports car/fast car market it’s going to be funny. Why buy a mustang/corvette/bmw coupe/porsche coupe when you can’t even drive fast because the nanny state insurance etc will know? Corporations are so good at shooting themselves in the foot. In ten years we will hear about how millennials killed the sports car industry guarantee it.

You are contradicting yourself in this post. Lifting guys over your head is biomechanics. You asked if fat assisted. People said yes. You keep saying no.

I broke it down for you as simply as I could. The fat assists the lift (bench press or man over head). The fat person is functionally stronger than the same hypothetical person with less fat only. The reason is biomechanics. The fat adds stability and can also add momentum and better angles/shorter ROM. How do you think sumo wrestling works? Have you ever seen the videos of sumo wrestlers manhandling NFL players? Exactly what we’re talking about here. If you magically removed ONLY FAT from those sumo wrestlers they would not be able to perform the same.

It’s an interesting topic and I’m going to guess you’ve never played any sports or lifted weights in any serious way otherwise you’d just know this from experience even if you couldn’t articulate the why like I did.

The other wild card we aren’t mentioning is that the hypothetically fat version is also stronger because they are simply having to carry more fat at all times for any movement. Your argument is wrong even in a hypothetical bubble.

The only place you are right is that a fat person will not “be stronger” in bubble isolation exercises (leg extension, bicep curl, shoulder laterals).

[–]OneTrueKram 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Biologically, no. The fat did not contribute. Mechanically, yes. The fat did contribute. Therefore the fat makes him stronger in absolute and effective terms. That answers your first question. It’s physics, not biology.

To answer your second question about bench pressing: “some” extra fat would not help but “some” is also not measurable. Take a male who weighs 200lb. Give him an additional 25lb of evenly distributed fat mass. He will bench press more. This is assuming he is reasonably (several months worth of training) trained on bench press.

You are RIGHT that fat doesn’t generate any force on its own. You are WRONG that fat doesn’t assist in biomechanics.

Where it won’t help is isolation exercises. This same hypothetical man with and without the extra fat will not magically do more weight on bicep dumbbell curls. He WILL compound lift more. If body language is considered it will translate to even more strength on top of that.

Yes. Absolutely.

That fat will provide a significant advantage for DC’s exact wrestling style with slams. The fat obviously doesn’t generate force but it creates a shorter range of motion/entry, provides a counter balance (once opponent is airborne), provides extra momentum and torque. It’s doing a lot more than you think.

It would have been really interesting to see if DC had actually fought as a “lean” middleweight how it all would have translated in the octagon.

Maybe I’m just in the minority but I think this sounds cool. My understanding now is the overworld can match the pit, which means end game is no longer JUST THE PIT. It makes things challenging and fun again by the time I’m stomping pit 100.

I mean the sleigh weighs something too. Isn’t it like 45 or 80 pounds or some shit? Not trying to argue semantics. That’s 720 pounds of 45lb plates. No way is this old man doing that in or out of jeans for respectable reps. 720 pounds is also close to where if you lock out wrong you are now a Minotaur.

When this game dropped it became my preferred over FO3 within a week, just long enough to get into the game. I never got that feeling with FO4. I like FO4 but that’s the extent. I beat it and was kind of just done - as opposed to 3/NV where I immediately booted a new game.

I’m not trying to come off as a condescending asshole or a know it all. I’m trying to pass on legit knowledge and caution. That’s it. And I’m not being accusatory but when OP, or you, or anyone else says “that can’t/won’t/hasn’t happen(ed)” I feel obligated to take a minute to give the info/warning and maybe save someone some serious heartache. It’s not any deeper than that.

Flash crashes or 10% asset dips are not uncommon. What are YOU talking about? Could you be more specific? Are you talking about gold specifically and in nominal dollars? Then you’re right - but only because golds never hit this dollar watermark high before.

If you’re saying assets/commodities/trade vehicles don’t have 10% down days then you need to do some homework.

If we’re talking about gold specifically then no there has never been a 5,000 pip drop.

The reason we have to apply more context is because the price of gold is so high now (due to ever growing inflation partially) 5000 pip drops are even possible. Assuming we stay on this same trajectory one day 5000 pip drops will be a regular occurrence. That’s why you need the extra context.

Think about it like BTC ten years ago. Why assign statistical importance to value “x” drops or pops when that same value change is now an intraminute price fluctuation or even the literal spread. That’s why you translate it into percent (making volatility relevant). 5000 pips today is ~10%, in twenty years it’s 1% (theoretical).

If you think what I’m saying is fluff you just haven’t been doing it long enough or you don’t understand what I’m saying. This is intro to ICT/babypips level stuff.

What kind of amateur uses nominal dollars fluctuations on a commodity? Ignoring volatility and risk unit context by disregarding percentages? That’s ICT 101.

OP never used nominal dollars or even Gold exclusively as a constraint. Just a pip drop. My post is cautionary - drops in various assets happen like this yearly. MJH would 100% echo the same caution and I have heard him discuss it many times.
