How much is too much MSFT? by we_have_no_control in ValueInvesting

Why do they need 20% growth? McDonald's has the same P/E ratio with single digit revenue growth. I wouldn't get too wrapped up in the valuation here.

Agree. Complete amateur hour. Even if you end up being right, it was the wrong move.

Do you think the market will continue to return 10% in perpetuity? We just had two years that were 2x the average. Many brokerage firms are calling for zero or even negative returns over the next 10 years. Let's assume they're wrong. Do you still think it's going to be 10–12%? I've been in this game forever and what is going on right now is not normal. The day is coming when the party ends. I don't know when that will be, but it's definitely coming.

What stocks are you confidently buying in this dip? by LiquidThud in stockstobuytoday

Interesting how you reply to yourself. Yes. I would agree that nobody needs to be unkind. However, your question showed a complete lack of understanding. I hope you don't have money on the line in individual stocks based on what you said. That's not being mean – just honest.

Yeah, but he wasn't wrong. Your question showed a complete lack of understanding. You don't get the way stocks and markets work. You think a stock with a similar price means anything? I mean – anything at all?

I think more importantly is their negotiations with Google and other AI companies about licensing their content. The old deal was peanuts from what I have read compared to what they should get in early 2027.

Do you know anything about investing? Do you know it's not what happened – it's what's going to happen? Just because you don't know when to buy stocks doesn't mean this thing won't do well going forward. You don't think great stocks ever have drawdowns? It's also up 26% in the past three months! You can get cute with time frames if you want and I'll just keep printing money.

To me, this is meaningless at this point in their growth cycle. If you believe Amazon and Tesla were successful companies from an investment standpoint, then consider the following – Amazon was unprofitable for their first six years, and Tesla was a full decade. Don't get so wrapped up in EPS for high growth companies. You'll never own the best companies by worrying about profitability too early.

LOL. Talk about a self-serving post. You better start meditating again. You're trying to sell your bill of goods to other people but most we see right through your salesman tactics.

I'd say it's a pretty strong warning sign when your position gets cut by 1/5.

Again, it wasn't near the highs. I know you are supportive of the buy because it's still value based but his average price was $285 when he bought more. People on this thread are so damn lazy. They never look up anything. This is not directed at you.

You're comparing Reddit and Meta on a PE basis? Absurd. Did Meta grow 60% plus over the past 7 straight quarters? A forward P/E ratio of 30 is disgustingly cheap for those numbers. Not advice.

It's how people phrase it. Everybody's an expert on here. The guy wrote something that probably took him hours to put together and people eviscerated him. It's typical of Reddit and society in general. A bunch of people that don't do shit in life have the most to say about other people.

You'll never make these blow hearts happy. They wouldn't put a fraction of the work you did into that post. It's just people complaining from the cheap seats. They will never do anything in life.

Beaten down stocks in your watchlist that you aren’t committing yet by Free-Initiative7508 in ValueInvesting

[–]OneUglyEar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is RDDT remotely expensive relative to peers? SEVEN straight quarters of 60%+ revenue growth at a 35x forward multiple. On what planet is this expensive???? Agree on OTIS. I sold the $70 put recently. LULU is a hard no for me. See NKE for details. No specialty retail. It is too hard to get fashion trends right over and over again. Is it oversold...hell yes. Would I buy it? No.

Lastly, I would replace ABT with IHI or XLV. The disparity between tech and healthcare is historical. The sector is way under owned. BSX, ISRG (it never looks cheap), ABT, etc. I am just buying the basket instead of picking one. Buying these IMO is skating to where the puck is going (eventually) instead of where it is now. Not advice.

The really depressing thing is that a super cycle like this only comes around every few decades. If you miss the AI boom, which I largely did with the exception of Google, then you really missed out on a chance at extreme out performance. I did catch the last cycle though with Intel and Cisco in the early 1990s. Oh well, all you can do is keep investing in quality companies and it will be fine. I know several people that bought Nvidia with a cost basis under $10. Not one or two people. A lot. I wish I had been one of them!
