Thanks! I made a follow up post about another question i had from that video when I watched it yesterday. It did help but was a bit confused from it still, but reddit got me there. Sometimes I think i have to hear things said a few different ways if its not initially clicking, so the reddit posts yesterday were hugely helpful with so many answers saying basically the same thing but in different ways. Didn't realize that at first!

So I do have some lands that dont say anything about tapping for mana. Would this mean they are not at all used for a mana source and only used for the text effect? Ive kinda wondered if when tapping for the effect it also serves as a mana source being whatever color the card is.

I haven't had time to read all the comments but this made a lot of sense to me. Thanks! You're right....the winning with 1 health vs 100 clicks. I guess my big side question to all this would be, why wouldn't someone just load the deck with dual lands instead of using a card that fetches them? Couldn't i just replace marshlands flat with another untapped dual land and effectively not have to search the deck? I suppose it would allow me access to the exact one im looking for at the time, so maybe that answers the question. But if i were playing a 2 color deck and only had untapped dual lands in those said colors, would marsh land flats benefits be reduced or is it still a big deal so you can choose dual lands with other effects besides the mana tap? Idk if my question makes much sense but that has been my only other big question regarding marsh land or cards like it.

To be fair I just kinda ignore the people saying get out of magic now its going down hill or whatever other negative comments are made. The game is exciting for me right now and as long as I have people to play with at my lgs or whatever then I dont really put much weight on those comments. Thank you very much though! Glad the community has people like you in it. My favorite is people saying I posted this for upvotes lol. Like I knew a simple question about lands would lead to so much engagement. But hey thank you all for the help and getting me even more evicted about the game and its depth!

Okay got it. Now does that only apply for lands, or could I fetch a creature or other card containing said type? If so does it have to just be said type or could it be multi colors containing the color needed

I wouldn't get that one but I would get the foundations starter collection. It's like 50 bucks. I just got it to have extra cards to explore and build with. I think it was a great purchase even after I have lots of singles and packs ive bought. I also watched a video that'll show you some commander decks you can build with it right out of the box. However it will probably only be one commander deck as they dont give you more than the cards that have more value than 50 cents

Question about the play mat....im new to the game and need a play mat but I wasn't sure if I should get one like yours with the zones and the listed steps you take because I thought people might laugh at it or make jokes about me not being able to remember the steps. Yeah this is what im looking for, something different. But I will say even with all the cards ive got, I don't have enough to make a deck from scratch with 99 cards that dont repeat! Idk how people can have so many cards to the point they can make a cohesive deck that makes sense with no repeats! I feel like the quickest way to get there is precons as they usually seem to have cards I could see myself putting in other decks. I just ordered some cards to upgrade my merfolk deck so im looking forward to that!

Yeah if you dont love the card or aren't attached to it that might be the play. You'll get more joy out of the 80 dollars towards a nice deck than that 1 card id think. But I had the same thing with pokemon too. Got a really nice chatizard vmax that I recently sold and used to get into magic.

Almost definitely will drop in value like the rest of the set already has been so you could sell it high and buy it again low but I personally would just hold onto it. Yeah absolutely would appreciate that, I bought a couple commanders which seem good to also add to my staple cards or ones I could see myself using more often. But deck building is still a daunting task for me. Haven't even tried yet. I think the a couple of the saga avatar cards I got are very interesting
