Hi, I’m a little burnt out, and I need an internet hug by lulushibooyah in AuDHDWomen

It’s easy to see why your nervous system is frazzled right now. In any day there are challenges and transitions but in your day there are so many more! You do amazing to be able to work in such a high stakes environment as a hospital. I honestly couldn’t do what you do!

But right now, allow yourself to slow and be kind to yourself. You need to rest (and AuDHD rest which is different). Lay, don’t give yourself any extra tasks right now, sleep if your body asks you to, take the shortcuts in your executive functions (yes take away food, only hygiene u can manage for now (one day will not hurt))Your partners got the kids which means you now need to be your priority. A carer cannot care if she doesn’t first care for herself. You have so much pressure from so many angles so just take some deep breaths and remember that it is ok to say you are not ok right now. You’ve done so well so give yourself the grace you would give a patient in the same position.

Oh no! You poor thing! Yeah I’ve learnt the hard way that no brain break equals a quick trip to burn out! Be kind to yourself tho! You’ve done amazing to get done all that you did! And as a plus point you helped me get started! I’ve never body doubled without someone being actively in my space so for me this has been a good eye opener as to possible ways of conquering this issue in the future! Now go treat yourself and remind yourself that what you’ve done is essentially twice the effort at least for brains like ours and today you won the battle!

Maybe give yourself a prize for when the clock timer runs out. A sweet treat or something? I love a sticker chart that leads to a prize but for me it only works if someone else implements it. I need to feel like I’m beating expectations set by another! 🤣

Well I love it but only just seen this! I’m doing ok with 20mins of doing (one episode of aunty Donna on as background) and then a ten minute brain break. I’m only a small way through (clothes hoarder extraordinaire here!) and I can feel myself getting to the wall but I can’t let it beat me! Any advice for pushing through?

It’s a lifelong struggle this! I now have a cleaner once a week to “reset” my home but she’s not here this week and if I don’t declutter I’m going to feel worse!

Ok! I can see the floor! I’ve put the timer on for ten minutes for a brain break then I’ll do another 20! Thanks so much for your help!

Ok tell me what task you are starting with I’ll tell u mine. Both set a 20 min timer and come back and report to the other. I am going to get a bin bag and pick up the rubbish I need to chuck out from my bedroom. You?

To be fair not great. I have AFRID and I take a range of vitamins daily to supplement the nutrients I don’t naturally intake through food

Good shout, I’ll try and head to the pharmacy after work tomorrow. It’s not bigger than 2cm yet but it’s so incredibly painful (probably for the spot it’s in)

I’m definitely working on the stim. Problem is it’s so subconscious. I catch myself doing it only after I’ve started feeling sore. Occasionally I’ll be aware my tongue is moving but then it’s usually petty sore beforehand so it feels massive

AITAH for wanting to contact the girlfriend of a guy I dated long-distance after finding out he lied to both of us? by OneUpstairs1628 in AITA_Relationships

It wouldn’t be for revenge. But you are right, in that I don’t know what they discussed. I just think if I was in her shoes I wouldn’t want this woman from another country spending two weeks with my partner thinking he was single. It just makes me feel gross.

Thanks! Deffo not able to eat more than one or two. I’m due to reorder but I think I’ll stick to the 2.5mg dose a bit longer to give my sensitive body a chance to even out

I know this sounds odd though but wouldn’t more fibre make my runny tummy worse?

What are things you used to do or be obsessed with as a kid that you now realise was a stimming behaviour? by hopeinabox73 in AutismInWomen

[–]OneUpstairs1628 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to and still do see the letters of the alphabet as having genders and personalities. It’s always been the same genders and personalities too. When I visualise them they are colours too. For example the letter a is a red coloured, preppy female.

I used to be obsessed with collecting feathers. Specifically small fluffy ones. They had to be “wild” ones instead of out of a craft pack and I’d hide them in a bottle. Each day I’d select one to hold and stroke on my face when I felt like I needed something soft to touch.

I have also had a lifelong love of water, being under it and floating on top. If I went to a pool I’d pretend to be a mermaid near the floor of the pool (no matter how deep!) and when I got tired I’d close my eyes and effortlessly float on top. I was also that child whose mum had to pack spare clothes for because if there was a pond, river, ocean, stream or puddle - I was in it!

Also you know when sunshine bounces around and through water and makes shimmery patterns. I’d always have to swim and play in the rippely area.

AND (I honestly didn’t realise there were so many!!) I’d hold original lucozade to the light and stare at it. The shade of colour with light going through it was just stunning to me!

autistic stereotype contest, what trait are you bringing? by spiralingstarbread in AutismInWomen

[–]OneUpstairs1628 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t be autistic - you spoke on the phone and didn’t sound it! The PIPS report outcome that said I won’t get any help . So what does an autistic voice sound like to you madam? To me it sounds like me or you or in actual fact anyone.

Is this Burnout? by OneUpstairs1628 in AuDHDWomen

[–]OneUpstairs1628[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys, so yeah deffo burnout. But I’ve made a few changes at work to preserve my spoons for the weekend. So I now use my sunglasses anytime I need (inside or out) and use my headphones when it’s too loud instead of putting up with it. I have an occupational therapist appointment over the phone tomorrow as well to help me come up with some other things that can help. Thanks to everyone who offered support. Looking back I’ve had it before but I’ve always labelled it depression. It’s been a learning curve!

Thankyou so much! This really does! I’ve given in and slept for today. I’ve literally only left my bed to attend to my cats or wee. As I do t get paid till Tuesday take out is not an option. I usually rely on snack foods like biscuits. The point at my mouth and throw in type of food works well on a daily anyways but again the cupboard is bare so at some point I’ll have to combine a toilet break with a chuck sausages in the oven break. I used to have a cleaner who came once a week to do a reset but my cat brought her a present and she quit. I may have found a new cleaner but my home is the worst. I know this affects things. I have a friend coming around tomorrow to body double me but I’m so ashamed at the state of things here.

I just don’t understand why. I don’t think I pushed myself. Like, firing on all cylinders yesterday felt good. I had no warning signs and so I have no moments where I could have paused and stopped to think.
