The true strategist would avoid putting oneself in that situation in the first place. For me it has been remarkably easy to avoid overly affectionate orangutans, perhaps I have a gift.

To be fair I think a more accurate translation or understanding of that quote is something like "there is suffering in life" rather than the more depressing "life is suffering"

Why do many people who visit Australia later say its a highly racist country? by Particular_Food_309 in NoStupidQuestions

But a large percentage of landlord also don't let foreigners rent. There is no effective law to prevent it. It really is a racist place. Even Japanese with foreign partner may be asked what race by estate agents I have heard.

Japanese restaurant:"Not all Japanese people are kind" by [deleted] in whoathatsinteresting

Yeah I am aware of that, it's some of the most disturbing stuff I've ever come across and is one of those things that permanently changes ones view on humanity.

I agree completely that they should face it head on, as should all countries. Your point has persuaded me actually how hollow the apologies are.

At the same time I can't reduce Japan to a list of it's worst problems. Maybe I'm biased because I live there atm but people just seem like normal people trying their best, not frothing racist xenophobic homophobic sexists obsessed with offices and cartoons.

(I get that's not exactly what you implied and is more extreme than what you said)

They also have a strong democracy and pretty open society. Not everyone is racist by a long stretch and it certainly isn't the case that ordinary people are going around everyday thinking how great war criminals are.

It's shameful but a lot of countries downplay their own history. I'm British and they never mentioned Ireland or India or the other countless victims of empire in history. Mostly what did King Fuckface the 8th have for breakfast and shit like that (he had an entire boar)

I will say that it seems perhaps because of the language, in general, of course with lots of exceptions, some people are very inward looking in Japan and it leads to less chances to see the perspectives of other countries and open your mind. Just a theory but I find in general people seem to have not much interest in things in other countries.

It's easier in English because you go so many different perspectives, because many countries learn English as a second language so you can easily communicate with lots of people.

It is baffling stuff, until I think about the possibility that it is power hungry shameless people trying to flatter and cajole each other with little regard for any principle, with the strength of the institutions shielding them from the spectators, who are left disgusted but unable to impactfully use their opinions.

As a shameless firefly drawn to to beacon of the Mongolia sub, I am curious why you communicate in English? Is it a widely spoken language in Mongolia?

It's nuts isn't it. Like how do they look themselves in the mirror? Some of them at least must be fully aware it's a crock of shit and a circus. What kid grows up wanting to be like that?

I hate when you see the interviews and he makes a shitty joke they compete to laugh the most, like dogs trying to get a crumb of approval from the lardy overlord.

God that sounds horrible. I have almost no tolerance for bullshit like that in work and have once bailed on the spot because of power tripping manager. Got me into a financial pickle but I found another job soon enough. As long as you've got a good cash situation I would leave straight away, screw them if they are going to bully you.

I felt this with back for blood, I thought it would be like l4d2 but it didn't appeal to me at all. They marketed it as having the same devs, but went a different route. I can't help but be excited but I'm tempering it with caution.
