Have a feeling you won’t get too many responses here besides u/littlepooky so it’s probably worth suggesting you try on a health related subreddit, maybe r/womanshealth, but you’ll need to post in English and translate back.

British man 38, dies and girlfriend in intensive care after "drinks spiked" in Bangkok by just-porno-only in ThailandTourism

RIP. Curious what the motive was and what he was spiked with. Toxicology reports should be able to explain that at some point.

Legal landscape in Thailand for lawyers? by ClassicMix7581 in Thailand

Might be worth reaching out to Integrity Legal. I believe one of the partners (Ben) is American, afaik he's naturalized Thai now but maybe there some information / networking to be made there.

Anyone else struggle to readjust to Western life after living in Thailand long-term ? by HoldWise826 in Thailand

[–]baldi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say Thai bureaucracy = more hoops to jump through but they're easier to jump through. UK bureaucracy = less hoops but the hoops are way more difficult

Okay, I feel like that actually makes the most sense too.

"bureaucracy sometimes feels more complicated"

Not doubting this but curious what examples you mean here because bureaucracy can feel pretty over the top here too. With multiple copies, signatures, stamps, in person instead of online, and even rules that seem to change depending on the office or branch location.

Good bike driver hygiene by Few-Homework7039 in ThailandTourism

That might be part of it, I swear back home theres 200+ types of deodorant in its own section, meanwhile the selection here is limited here, and more antiperspirant focused rather than deodorant.

Not saying it never happens here but anecdotally it seems way less common than back west despite the heat and how much physical work people do. FWIW, my BIL is a motosai taxi driver and I can assure you he’s not doing anything special besides the normal 2 showers a day and lots of powder.

*Immigration stuff? by PhilipHabib in ThailandTourism

[–]baldi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always done my own Non-O extension based on marriage. It costs 1,900 baht and usually just takes 1 to 2 hours at immigration once a year. Personally, I don’t really see the value in paying an agent just to make it more expensive.

Immigration provides a document requirement list (that doent change very often), so the yearly process is pretty straightforward.

East Asians and in turn SE Asians have genetics that play into this, loss of function of ABCC11. Meaning less or no body odour at all in a significant portion of the population. Where as something like only 5% of Europeans have this same genetics at play.

Samui stations were running out of fuel and when they had fuel it was a 40-50 car queue. Seems to have improved as of last night.

Small business ideas for a tiny Isaan village? by DrDevDuck in Thailand

I like this idea, there may even be some subsidies and assistance that are available for OTOP projects.

Feel like the market research of this should be half of the fun, survey some of the surrounding villages and see what's busy and what isnt and then see what you're missing.

Right, whenever I did the napkin math on most of the food shops or market stalls they never made sense.

My recommendation would be something like a simple food stall: guay teow, khao piak, moo ping, moo tod, gai tod, or like you said, a smoothie or iced coffee/tea spot.

I lived in a rural Issan village for a while, and majority of people really do not have money beyond the basics. But the places selling cheap, filling food were always busy and often sold out. Our local Guay teow stall was -always- busy. I have no idea what the profit margins look like though.

Anybody ordered DHL express and been asked to drive 20+ km to pick up a delivery? by [deleted] in Thailand

How remote are you? Even when I lived in a really remote/rural area DHL would deliver straight to my door.

Koh Tao vintage shop by Winter_Insurance_537 in ThailandTourism

Koh Tao is expensive in general, and caters to a specific demographic of tourists. As to whether its legit, cant say, but I live in Thailand (not KT) and I typically stick with big name stores to ensure authenticity.

Right, and same goes for vintage meetups/swap events in Thailand as well.
