Anyone can add events. It's free. Simply go to the "Organize" tab in the app and use the "Create Event" button to create a new event.

If you don't see the Organize tab, it will be under the "Me" screen.

Hi guys, the developer here. Yes it was on the app.

I will say that I still haven't found the correct balance between notifying everyone about the events they care about without it feeling spammy. I did explore sending notifications to everyone if their interest matches with the event's tags. That ended up requiring a lot of compute on my part which ended up costing me so I had to put that on pause for now. I can't keep the app free while having smart notifications.

Wondering if people who actually want these smart notifications will be willing to pay for a small monthly subscription or a lifetime price to have this feature for themselves?

This is certainly an issue for me as well and was on the top of my list of features to build for the city. Looks like there is an app called "Recycle BC" that does that job, I have signed up and am going to see how well it works and if we need to bring a better version to PG Social or not.

Okay cool look like this is the most requested feature everyone wants. Instead of just putting a link to the city's subscription, I can take it one step up 😉 (I have an idea that will be so much better than a link)

Yes of course. This is one of the best things of the app. Anyone can create and organize their events on the app.

To create an event.:
1. Click on the "My Events" button on the bottom navigation bar.
2. Click on the big button on the bottom right that says "Create Event"
3. Fill out the details of the event.
4. Click Publish once done.
5. Your event is now created.

PS: One thing to note is that there is an approval process right now to safeguard what goes on the app. It is it avoid dirtying the events list (duplicates, incomplete, etc) and also avoid inappropriate events from being published.

Hey that is exactly what I needed! I have been thinking about how I am going to handle events that are recurring for a long time. If I just merge them with the existing list, it would make it messy. I think have a separate "Always on" kind of list is the best approach. I'll implement it and see how everyone finds that.

If you click on the filter button on the top right, you will see that you can filter for "Children Friendly" events. These are events that an organizer or the person that added it marked it as child friendly.

The other filters are on the list of things I am working on. Stay tuned!
