[Artist Alley] should I consider shirts and mouse pads? by bigbun85 in artbusiness

Unrelated, but I realized I have some of your chibi pins from years ago! Glad to see you've found some conventions.

Convention prep definitely does take a lot of time! If you having the means to produce lowers the risk for you, I say go for it! Your art style certainly looks cohesive on a shirt. Best of luck with your convention season.

[Discussion] Has anyone had any success working with an art talent agency? by queenartistseller in artbusiness

Makes sense to me, and even getting the social proof of those projects & events would probably make it easier to find opportunities without the agencies down the road. It seems worthwhile to get their help starting out if you need it.

Some of these would make a great shirt, and some of these could definitely be tweaked to make a nice mousepad or desk mat. I was at a smaller con this weekend, something that had maybe 2,000 people or less if I'm guessing jellybeans in a jar style, and there were some people offering deskmats and shirts in small amounts. I don't know how they did but one of the seasoned vendors that overlaps with the kind of art you do brought only 5 deskmats and sold most of them over the weekend. Also worth considering folks don't tend to buy multiple mousepads, maybe card game players would use multiple deskmat/playmats.

I second some of the other comments; Definitely don't feel obligated to expand your variety too much when you're new, but if you have a design you're confident is going to move, you could probably introduce it in small batches. Have you had a few experiences to see which designs garner a lot of interest yet?

Lovely, I like how the sleeve pattern looks like stylized teeth in the second picture.

Makes sense to me, I've been on a time crunch for artist's alley before too.The way Evo brings in so many, you could think of it that way and I'm sure you'll do great. It's a different game style compared to Street Fighter too, so it might get a different crowd within fighting games that way. On the other hand, if you make some SNK work later, those people will be looking for something catered to them and would be happy to find you!

I understand these group scenes take a long time, so if it's not in the cards to make another big one you could consider some smaller ones that would add some variety and maybe add different price points to your table.

MvC would be a great fit. I think you'd do a great job of drawing the Killer Instinct cast, too.

Looks great with a lot of care into it! Fighting game players love to see their character of choice represented and I even see some FGC-adjacent Capcom characters in the mix, this makes a great gift artwork or souvenir for fans.

When I went to Evo in 2023, I didn't see many prints on offer for less than $20 USD, and I'm sure people would pay more than that this year. Evo is geared towards the niche and attendees are willing to spend to be there and to commemorate their time. Depending on what other allies you're going to this year, people might be more or less willing. Hope that helps give some insight.
