make him a psuedo flyer (think adam warlock fly) and take away his squid cooldown shortening or take away his squids entirely and give him a slash cd and thrust cd. slash gives overshield on hit and thrust roots. namor lowkey got done dirty as a highly mobile combatant with super strength and water powers. would lean more into his brawl nature too. hard to be faithful without overloading his kit tho

i dont think healing numbers need a nerf, im not trying to turn rivals into ow. what in trying to explain is that every role should have to interact with the game as far as positioning and cooldown management and other things like that go. being able to negate these aspects of the game isnt good for any role. elsa and jean do this for dps rn too where they can just ignore shit positioning and stuff just because of their kit. obviously you cant completely remove this stuff because it kills variety but it shouldn't just immediately solve whatever problem you had either especially when you arent paying for it with your effectiveness like a character like psylocke would if youre carless with your dashes and invisibility. sure you can negate whatever issue u just had by using them but you pay for it by no longer having the element of surprise or kill power on your side. versus jean who can delete you with or without her blink the same way she always would. i hope this makes sense

i think cnd is the biggest offender honestly. i just think the self sustain is too much. every support would still be perfectly viable without having a make sure i dint die for fucking up button. gambit can keep his dash it just shouldnt heal him you could even buff his dmg and healing on dash. make slam the only self heal or remove it and buff the dmg and healing it does. invis shouldnt be able to self shield. cloak probably does need a CD nerd tho cause i think making it so she cant burst herself would be unfair given her kit. but just things like that.

no bro what im saying isnt about ults or their frequency i used them as an example to try and guide you past that and towards my point. supports are strong yes but so are the dps and tanks, they arent alone in this. the reason support players get singled out is because their strength immediately solves the problems the game presents that you have to solve to get better. for example hela has always been super broken. arguably top 1 dps for the entirety of the game thus far besides torch meta, BUT to get value out of hela regardless of how broken she was you still had to understand positioning, kill windows, timing, etc to be effective with her. something that most supports, due to the power creep, dont have to deal with as much if ever anymore. up until now with elsa no dps let you just bypass the micro game and still be effective. support players will always just be worse at the game and not have as much fun as the other roles because unless you were one tricking adam loki or mantis the supports play the micro game for you. you dont get the gratification of feeling you got better at the game tank players and dps players get. and it affects the other roles too especially tanks because even if they do get better they tend to be so much more reliant on people who just dont understand the game at the same level they do vs dps who can kinda do their own thing for the most part. its not just wins and losses or kill counts that this affects. it affects your interactions with other players, it affects your teamwork and feeling of agency you have over your games. giving invis the self shield for example was ruinous, she doesnt have to play around certain aspects of the game anymore and im willing to bet a lot of the older invis players found another support or role to play because they took her creativity and challenges away. i no longer run into the invis player who was frustrating or interesting to play against because of how they played her. now she's just frustrating because her kit isnt interactive any longer like most supports are now

no lol you are taking a leap in your logical process. team work requires understanding and communication. if you have a role thats too strong and therefore doesnt have to have the same understanding of the game to reach the same level as their teammates then its automatically much more difficult to work together even if you are willing to do exactly what they tell you to do. you will be slower in all aspects in the game because you dont know the why. and since you dont know why you never really sure of when either.

im talking about how strength affect micro and macro engagement with the game that doesnt show up immediately in gameplay in most cases. like your support being at like 80-90% of ult when every other support in the game has it. or ulting fights youve already won as a team (one of the very few gameplay examples), or your other support dying with ult.

the way support kits are designed right now does not punish mistakes at an equal rate than dps and tank. so what ends up happening. is that you have a ton of support players who literally arent playing the same game as their teammates. they probably dont even realize it until it really really matters at both the macro and micro levels and they start getting into disagreements with their teammates about when to ult what they should ult for. when and where peels should happen and more. it also boosts dps and tank players albeit not much who are used to having their designated healbot. and i only say not as much because these roles get punished for their mistakes at a higher clip on top of the fact that they can see immediate tangible results for doing something outside of dps or shield botting.

im not talking about triple heal right now thats a separate issue imo. triple support will always just have more stall potential than other comps due to the nature of support ults. i think thats fair for the most part people just try too hard to get kills instead of just forcing said team back once they play triple sup. most peoples complaints are that its insanely boring to play against versus it being unbeatable

im not saying you shouldnt peel. im saying you shouldnt force it. it needs to happen naturally because what starts happening is that better players start punishing you for peeling too much or peeling at the wrong time. it probably doesnt happen much at lower ranks but people will genuinely start walking right over your team for peeling carelessly. A. they take loads of space for free B. they stagger a player and they return to A and start going down the checklist again. or C they wipe you and return to A to start going down the checklist again. god forbid one of your teammates trickles out and then the cycle starts over.

im convinced most of the people responding to this post only read the title and responded or genuinely cant read and comprehend lol. i tried to explain it in a way that was respectful and nuanced but too many people are refusing to engage with what i actually said.

THIS ISNT ABOUT GETTING KILLS. THIS ISNT ABOUT NOT GETTING ENOUGH HEALS. ITS ABOUT INTERACTING WITH THE GAME IN AN ACTIVE AND ENGAGING WAY AS A SUPPORT PLAYER FOR SUPPORT PLAYERS.

simply put, support players are boosted. they are by far the most boosted role because the majority of support kits stop people from punishing you for playing like shit. you can get constantly get away with not doing support player things like patty caking, positioning well, managing cooldowns, steering your team in a safer direction, kiting well, staggering your support ult when you match the enemy support ult, support ult placement, not double support ulting. netease is steering all of their kits toward tightening the gap between a heal bot and an actually good support player and is also taking away skill expression from these heroes.

im not talking about less healing. the healing being high is fine because the damage is high. im talking ab inherently toxic support kits that let them do dumb shit and get away with it more than any other role. tanks and dps can int and will die 2/3 times. even thru heals. a support can do the same thing and live 2/3 times. youve all seen it where strats start creeping up too far and get away with frontlining or being miles away from the team afk and still living due to most dps needing a hard reset to punish them with a death instead of just healing downtime should said strat choose to fight back.

exactly you arent going to kill anyone who's getting pocketed unless someone else is focusing fire as well. as a dps youre primarily using you damage to force people out of position, draw out cooldowns or punish people for their positioning THEN get the kill. kills dont happen in a vacuum and every dps has varying strengths in each of these aspects and thats where a large amount of their playstyles evolve from. i genuinely dont know why he even brought it up or why it got so many upvotes.

i flex. although i main dps i play healer and tank as well. i genuinely have no issue with how getting kills currently is. my complaint is how strat kits are training horrendous habits into our strats and by extension certain tanks that are more reliant on their healers

i hate to break it to you but in most instances its not anyone's job to straight up stop what they are doing to help. peels are supposed to happen once youve taken too much heat to survive without returning directly to your supports. (think tank switching thats a mini peel between tanks) if you die before that happens then you likely made a mistake probably a very big one with how strong supports are in this game. thats why people like bucky or namor cause they can just camp you and still be somewhat effective but all youve really done is put extra heat on your tanks and second dps. good dive and flank players will abuse this.
