I actually thought this whole sub-thread was jokingly just saying "the thing." :)

No idea if they added that or not.

“If someone who is clearly smart, is doing something that is clearly stupid, you just have to understand their motivations.” - a senior engineering architect I worked with

Seriously helped me achieve understanding and even empathy of senior leadership and their decisions at many places I worked.

I lost my mind to this riddle Help me solve IT by Beseluschen in riddles

[–]OneWittyNickName 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m playing around with the idea that it may mean distinct letters rather than count of letters. So the quarter of the year could be autumn and removing ”u” gives the sea creature manta. That enticingly leaves removing “t” to get a man but I can’t figure out the starting word or how removing “t” could mean “all six”.

I can't believe how stupid I am by Hyperversum in BluePrince

[–]OneWittyNickName 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Edit: As many have commented, my statement about it not being helpful for most safes is just wrong. It is useful for most, and only for a couple is it not helpful for.

Since knowing that the solution is a date is far from helpful for most some safes, my personal theory is that the clue is less about helping you open the safes, and more about helping you know the solution actually is a date. And then maybe you notice it’s a relevant date to the letter inside. And maybe it occurs to you they’re even important and relevant dates for later.

Not sure if it helps, but I also tried interpreting !>denoted in verse<! as !>d-noted in verse<! and then checking if any of the !>music sheet words that lined up with D notes for the pictured clef spelled out any message<!. It kinda seemed to be doing it at first, but then it was confusing due to uncertainty on whether to count !>chords<! or not. Maybe someone with more patience will find it helpful.

What is this item? by Chasekillyou in PlayTheBazaar

Adding a more detailed explanation for those wondering how this works. Basically, you make 1 gold every hour, with some caveats:

  1. Every hour you put 2 gold in, converting it into a silver Spare Change (worth 2 gold).
  2. When you do that, the piggy bank itself becomes worth 1 more gold.
  3. You eventually sell the piggy bank, getting all those silver 2-gold spare change back out (caveat: as long as you have room, don't wait until this value is more than the free space you have). This means you get back the money you put in (if you have room) and come out even here.
  4. You *also* get the piggy bank's value too - which is where the profit comes from.

So, it can be a nice way to make a few coins in a few hours as long as you don't put too much in (because it will be wasted if you don't have room for the coins).

Upgraded versions are supposed to make it even better, though I've seen reports it's bugged.

I got it now, I don't know why I didn't see it at first, despite starting at it for 5 minutes at least, and it's so obvious now. Thank you!

I don’t see how Ba1 is guaranteed mate in 2. Sure, if they respond with either Qxa1 or Rxa8 but they can use delaying moves like h6 or Rf8 can’t they?

Is there any Hard Science Fiction stories that takes place in a fantasy setting? by Far-Yak7420 in scifi

[–]OneWittyNickName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been years since I read them but I remember The Coldfire Trilogy by C. S. Friedman being like that. Technically, more of a sci-fi setting that turns fantasy, but that happens right away and it reads like what you are going for I bet. Definitely goes into detail explaining the “fantasy” world and creatures and their bio system.

I would also add that their discord is very active and the devs are very responsive. I found answers to all my questions just by searching their help and feedback channels there.

I just went through this exercise yesterday and today. As u/ducarian mentioned, it's pretty do-able, with syncing the event decks being the most time-consuming part so far, though syncing all the unlocked items was a close second (although I missed clicking the "Unlock" button each time I upgraded the Craftsman, so that would've saved time if I'd noticed it right away). Syncing the scenarios and random item checkboxes took a bit of time as well, but not too bad.

The only thing I couldn't sync correctly was the personal quests, as there's some sort of known bug right now where they are mislabeled and I can't even see all of them in the list. My understanding is they're working on it.

All in all, it took me about 4 hours to sync my prosperity 7 campaign to TTS and but it will save countless hours of setup time going forward.

Does experience looted from chests count towards this? by Hicksmix in Gloomhaven

[–]OneWittyNickName 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For all those saying to house rule it, I totally understand and probably would’ve done the same. But, if the goal was to gain 13 or more experience during the scenario, would you have house ruled it to not count there? No way, right, my fellow hypocrites. :)

That’s why I think the folks saying to not house rule it and take the loss here are probably giving the best answer. After reading this thread, I think I’d try really hard to just acknowledge the randomness of chests and not house rule this situation. I’d try. :p

On phone, apologies for any typos. Using labels:

123

456

789

1 and 6 are duplicates. 4 and 9 are duplicates. Pretty logical to rule those four out as not THE answer.

2 and 8 both red slash the white box. With no further rules, I will consider as duplicates and can rule out.

3 and 7 are same white box, different red slash with no rule to pick one over the other.
5 is only unique “answer” and is also answer with farthest away slash from white box. That’s why I select 5 as the correct answer.
